heh Ed thanks for your message in my GB.
I have no problems with you not being able to disable the 'selling' feature of your album. it doesn't worry me because I trust you. If we sell the photos for $1m then we split it all up..lol and retire.

Thanks so much for your vote ("House Built by a Committee")... and please have a look or a "try" at my GAME.
Joel
There are currently TWO games running…..
And there are TWO questions I am being asked:
1.”How Do I find the Albums”
2.”What is the simplest way to submit your photos”

Here are the links to PHOTOJAZZ1 and PHOTOJAZZ2
http://public.fotki.com/JoMill/photojazz_visual/
http://public.fotki.com/JoMill/photojazz-visual-im/

Once you have gotten to the album....Copy the first photo (or any other photo in the album)..Edit it...and use the addresses below to place it into the album (sending it as an attachment to the e-mail).

and here are the two addresses which will allow you to directly place your photo into each of the albums (Games).

JoMill+photojazz@fotki.com
JoMill+photojazz2@fotki.com

After you have E-mailed your photo, have a look at it; it will be the last one in the album.
Write a comment under it... include your title and your process.

Hi Ed,

thanks for the message in my guestbook. I am basically with you here, just that your approach isn't exactly "brandnew". If you scroll the link that you gave me a little bit down to 10/06/06 4:14 PM you will see that I suggested basically the same approach in my Journal of February 2005 ;). I lack too many english words to put it so great like you did, but I think we mean the same thing. Check my rantings from February 2005. It was the answer to some Fotkin who asked me for my opinion and I answered his questions point by point. About some things I am not so sure anymore (randomizing is more fair, YES!)

I think Fotki really needs two sorts of contest, one like now, for community and socialising and fun, another more pro, with a neutral jury, no staff no members.

I discovered the most interesting people via the NOT anonymous votes and comments. I will not miss that! But yes, that goes on cost of fair voting, well .... times are over where I got riled about contest issues, it means nothing after you endured the daily news and anyway, the contest starts with a clear describtion as well on topic as on technical requirements (how much edit) and with preselections. Makes no sense to submit to the contest when you submit an avarage pic that is on topic instead an excellent one that is a little bit off topic and then you get your ass kicked by someone who posted a similar off topic pic, just way worse than the one you didn't post cuz you sticked to the describtion :(.

peace my friend
napomo

Ed: Sorry about the confusion, Napomo. I admit I should have better analyzed your earlier posting - it does have the same basis, as I see now. I was probably confused by your "points" system and thought that a simpler assigning "weights" according to the number of votes place (1 for the photo with least votes, then 2, 3, etc.) was not indeed suggested yet. And in general, by "brand new" I meant it was such to me, as opposed to my earlier published thoughts about the contest from the beginning of the year as well.

An important thing is - I’ll easily give up any credit and just be your endorsee if this idea is given a try.

Few other points from my earlier discussions:
- By anonymous I actually meant anonymity of the contestants, not voters. I also spoke of it as an option available at the time of an entry submission. I can see an appeal of anonymous voting, too. Another point was revealing all names after end of contests, not to loose that social aspect.
- I also see concerns from some people regarding stricter rules and suggested having two types of contests, one for fun, the other - for a real challenge. Having jury is cool but may be more problematic to maintain than a second tougher contest system where members are still the judges.

I agree that there needs to be a change in how the contest voting is done.

mine will be different..not sure which one yet, but it will be different

..I was wondering how many seconds my new shots in the Private area would last in the contest ...they are sort of "reflections" - LOL

I agree with Rich: I LOVE BlueBird's work! I had never seen it, and your 'experiment' is already offering professional dividends, at least to me!

Thank you, Ed. I want to see this idea go for a long time!

I absolutely LOVE Bluebird Photography's work ... she is brilliant!

I'm surprised at your choices ... never would have guessed in a hundred yrs.

Interesting

Ed: What's there today is gone tomorrow... or whenever I take a good walk in one's domain to pick some others. I wouldn't label them as "My best of <author>".
I'll treat this initiative not as to illustrate my tastes, but to help promotion of my peers.

the railing was for perception and realizm. Some ppl like it some ppl hate it.

Thanks for the vote though

Ed: Sorry, don't see your point - how exactly would the image be perceived unrealistic without the railings? To me, it’d be just cleaner.

Ed - when I took the photo of that Character in his period clothing on Sunday I thought of you and your album from the Renaissance Faire. Then YOU immediately commented on that shot - man we have some strange kind of mental connection. LOL
