Thanks for the vote in the Guess What It Is contest. You did not leave a comment or guess, so I'll tell you about it. It's a tropical fruit called Rambutan common in the Philippines. It is closely related to Lychee. The leathery skin is red (rarely orange or yellow), and covered with fleshy pliable spines. The fruit flesh is translucent, whitish or very pale pink, with a sweet, mildly acidic flavor. It smells good and tastes delicious. Thanks again.
