I really enjoyed your China & Cuba photos. I visited China in March/April this year. The Wall looks so much better with the green foilage. It was pretty drab when I went. And I'd love to visit Cuba if they ever open it to U.S. Residents. I'd like to go before it gets too commercialized and over touristy.
    Thanks for sharing.

    regards,
    Scott

Since you don't have the "Contact Me" button, I'll reply here. I saw Galya's pics a while back, on Fotki's main page under "Random Photos". I have a 4 year old, and love photographing children, so her face instantly stroke a chord with me :) I just never commented until now, since I don't know you guys :)

    Hi!

Thanks for sending me the link to the manual! I actually did find it on line but I think I need one of those books that explains the manual for someone who hasn't used photo programs much. There is a book out there but it's pricey so for now (while being gainfully unemployed) I'm making do. I've figured some things out in NX but there are a couple of things that baffle me. I'm not one who likes to alter photos too much except for the kinds of things you used to be able to do in the darkroom so I'm okay for now but the more I work with digital the more I realize I need to understand the editing programs. I appreciate your efforts!!!

There's a story behind the D300. I've been a Nikon owner all my life. My dad bought me my first real film camera-- a Nikkormat way back when. Since then I've had film cameras, most recently a film N80 Nikon. I do have a small digital Canon I use for snapshots but I was hesitant to go to digital but my boyfriend thought I should have a nice digital camera so he bought it for me (lucky me)--he actually wanted it but felt guilty buying it for himself so "gave" it to me. I only bought one new lens for the camera--the 70-300 VR as I am still using my old Nikon lenses with the camera. I'm hoping to buy one or two new ones but I need to wait til I get a job--laid off like many others!). I don't really do photoshop but plan to get it one of these days. I've tried a little bit of the Nikon CaptureNX program but don't have the manual so just doing minor adjustments. Otherwise, I just do a few basics with iPhoto (I'm a mac owner). (Sorry for the long post!)

Thank you so much for your kind comments on my photos! I agree, the cat at 1600 ISO is amazing since most cameras would make it look really noisy. As for the spider, I used my 70-300 zoom lens and just the flash on my camera which gave it that eerie look.
