Thank you for responding. I believe that I expressed myself fully. If this was a "real " contest, I would aree with your view 100%. In these fotki contests where there are few rules that are seldom enforced.. I found your work "offensive".
I support what you do and I have financially supported this organization. I just can't support laying such an important work into this context. It is like "casting pearls before swine".
Thanks for getting back to me. I wasn't aware of this ministry, but I can see it fulfills a real need. One lady in our church had several miscarriages and then lost her beautiful baby girl at almost 12 months of age from SIDS. Helping her through that was difficult, but the funeral was a very moving & positive experience for people who have faith. Children's funerals are always the hardest so anything we can do to help is a boon, so God bless you mate.
I'm just dropping in to explain a fairly negative comment I left on your DA entry. I really applaud YOU because over time I've enjoyed your entries of babies & young children, & I know you have a big heart & your intention certainly wouldn't have been to offend.
My wife had a miscarriage & was devastated so I know a stillbirth would have been even worse. Good friends have had one, & it was by far the most distressing funeral I've officiated at. I attended the viewing, because I was the couple's pastor, but I found that to be a shattering experience. Perhaps it's just a personal thing, I don't know, but I wanted to leave this note because I appreciate you & your lovely photos & you clearly have a big heart and good intentions.
This is what I left.
Sandy I applaud your intention, which I guess was to bring exposure to the work of NILMDTS, which as an Aussie I'd never heard of. I LOVE the quote on the photo & I know from your other entries of babies & children that you have a great big heart, but this entry really troubled me. I haven't experienced this myself but I have friends who have had a stillborn baby & I found this image very distressing. That's not always a negative, sometimes we need to be shocked out of our apathy in order to do something, & a photo can do that, & I guess you have as much right to enter this here to provoke thought/discussion/exposure or whatever, but I found it to be too much for me. I woke up this morning thinking about it.
Hi Sandy, Enjoyed your weekly entry! Bit of a departure from the wonderful portraiture I've come to associate you with :) Thanks for taking the time to comment on my weekly... Christopher
