Love this site. What a great place Raceway Park was. My father used to take us there as young kids in the late 60's and 70's. I crewed there for Scott Tanzillo, among others, in the hobby stocks, from 1976 thru 1981. We had a ball, many, many great memories.

Wow!! Thanks for such a great site! What a nice walk down memory lane. I remember listening to the races from my house on 125th and Justine St. I then frequented the track when I was older. What a good time!! Oh, let's not forget the fireworks on the 4th of July!!!
It was so much fun going to Plymouth Speedway for "Raceway Park Night". I got to see so many drivers that use to race with my father, Chuck Manis. It was a real thrill to see the Bob Pronger replica car...sure brought back memories. Wayne Adams looks sensational...it was so good to see him. Loved seeing James Bond (Dan Collier) and Speedy Gonzales. Can't wait until we all get together again. Looking forward to seeing Paul Beck in October. Let's continue to keep the Raceway Park memory alive and going strong. Here's to you Dad!!!

Hi, just found this site. I'm a racer from down state, we race on the brown stuff down here, not the black stuff! Anyway my dads family is from chicago, and his dad and uncles raced at your track in the early fifties, just wondering if anyone had any ideas on where to dig up some photos? The name is Wilkins, and best I can find out the cars were either numbered 7/8 and 5/8 or 78 and 58. Thank you from a brother to the south!

I cannot believe they tore down Raceway to build a grocery store! Raceway memories will never be forgotten!
Many of us never graduated to the "big time" and were stuck in Hobby Stock in the 70's. My usual finish was near last place. Somebody had to keep an eye on the other guys (and gals!). However the memories of my two heat wins will last a lifetime. Sometimes, when winning isn't in the cards, just competing in front of an audience is a tremendous thrill. I thank the adults for putting up with us and our junky cars. You kept us off the streets and gave us something to aspire to. God bless those old racers...
I was just surfing the web and looking for information related to Gus Linder and saw Diane Sweet's posting. You never know what you'll find while playing around. Believe it or not, when I was about five years old, I met Gus. He was friends with a car dealer named Charlie Pletcher from Carmichaels, PA. Gus drove an old brown and white coupe for Charlie. The number on the car was 4F. I have a picture somewhere of me when I was five with a tricycle and a peddle-car that were painted in those colors by my mother. I also ran into Gus one other time about 1969 when I had some body work done on a car at Charlie's place. One other thing I cannot find any information on is that there used to be a small dirt track in Jefferson, PA. My dad took me to the races there when Charlie and Gus were racing there. After the races, Gus would take me out in the race car and let me steer it around the track. Glad to hear he is still around and hope he is doing fine. Small world isn't it?
My M&D first took me to Raceway Park in 1957 when I was 5 YO. I loved it and have never forgotten all those wonderful nites I spent there watching the races. I have just one question, what has become of Paul Bauer and Ray Young. They were guys I always rooted for along with Kemperman and Stash.
boy I realy enjoyed the pictures ,when i was 7 ,8,9, my dad took me there all the time i rember it was 1963 the fist time i went there irember my dads friend race go carts then we did not miss a week at the track, we even totaled are 65 ford wagon on the way there ,and my dad made a call and we got a ride to the track boy was my mother pissed at the old man,,,, he sure drank the beer that night before he got a ass kicking,,,, those were the best times of my life thanks for this web site
I enjoyed veiwing your website of Raceway Park. Was trying to find pictures of my father and uncle who used to race there back in the Mid 50's to the early 60's. My father was George Wilson and drive a 1949 Ford, with the number 17-B the car was red in color. He got his start in racing when he first drove at 87th street Speedway in the spectators races, then on to Raceway Park. My uncle was Marion Lowery who race there in the early 50's to the mid 60's, do remember he did drive a Ford Edsel. Thank you for bring back some of my childhood memories.
