Hello Orly! I just had a great time viewing your Vigeland album. As I had mentioned it was the summer of 1961 I had visited the place, and in my young mind the whole  picture of the monolith lay embedded until awakened once more by your lovely photographs.  Human existence is a double sided coin of happiness and suffering. The
artist wanted to give credence to both to make the experience complete and as universal as possible. Thank you for the album. I hope this message finds you in good cheers. Drop in some time. Would love to hear from you. Hugs, Suresh

Yes, the scupltures really shows incredibly various aspects of human life. I admit that my general impression tended to be more cheerful than sad, because of the obvious joy of the people around. By the way, it completely changed the morning after, which was cloudy and grey... Made me appreciate our nice weather much more.

Thanks again for your comments and kind words. I hope that you're doing well... Probably so, becasue I see you have a new album from Africa! However, I'm too tired to watch it now. I'll give it a suitable time another day.

      Best wishes & Hugs,
      Orly

Vigeland Park, Oslo what a strange place, but as always you give a good insight to the atmosphere, the sculpture, children playing, talking, cuddling. I think the artist must have been much troubled by things he had seen in Europe. I am troubled by the piles of bodies, and the pleasure park, it is such a mixture, philosophically interesting.
    Hope you are well

      Hi Geoff,

How are you? Thanks for your visit and comments!

I agree with you that some of the sculptures in the park are disturbing (not only the dead ones, which are few). Perhaps the artist has been troubled with the event in Europe, but the sculptures seem very universal.

Vigeland's park is not considered a sad or disturbing place, and this could seem strange, but probably not a unique example in our world... Surely at the particular time when I visited I the general atmosphere was happy because of the lovely weather.

      Best wishes,
      Orly
