Hello Napomo

I have looked the word curiosities up in the thesaurus. There doesn't seem to be a plural for curiosity. May be curiosity is the plural. I got the meaning right though which means:
anomaly, bizarreness, characteristic, conversation piece, curiosity, eccentricity, extraordinariness, freak, freakishness, idiosyncrasy, incongruity, irregularity, kink, oddness, outlandishness, peculiarity, phenomenon, queerness, quirk, rarity, singularity, strangeness, unconventionality, unnaturalness.

I will explain further what I meant by it, Nataly asked me to do that too.
Thanks for letting me know:)

Thank you for the comment on my contest entry "People at Work" regarding the cleaning of my lens or sensor. I noticed the spots after I submitted the image and it was actually dust on the filter. I took the images for work to document the project that was being done and really did not care about how they came out at the time. I never thought I might enter one in a contest. This was basically a surp of the moment decision. I do appreciate your letting me know. God Bless, Lynn

Hi napomo :)

Please, have a look at the list of Fotki contest themes at:

You may review your suggestion there.

Have a fotkool day,

Hi Napomo :)

Fotkins' contributions are welcome!

Let it be this way:

Animals at Work: Help and Social Services

Submit photos of animals with a clear assigned task like service dogs/seeing eye dogs, working animals on farms, who pull machines, or Shepard dogs, mine seeking dolphins, police dogs and horses, rescue dogs, horses, who pull every kind of wagon or carriage, and such. Please do not submit photos of animals who work for entertainment like circus animals, dancing bears and dolphins, who perform funny tricks for commercial purposes, etc.

Is it OK?

Way cool, napomo! You’re the best!

I chose primary colors for Fotkipus because they wanted a cartoon look. They also said they might want to change colors, so I kept the design simple.

I certainly agree, though, that your Fotkipus is more elegant than my Fotkipus. (That’s not a sentence you commonly see on the Internet.)

I wouldn’t want to undercut Fotki with my own contest. I suppose you could argue that I am trying to influence Fotki with some of my Fotkipus extras, but I’m just having fun with it. I have no expectation that they would use Fotkipus – it would unnecessarily upset the Fotkins who read into the contest theme that the mascot must be a rabbit. (Whereas I knew they wanted a rabbit, but just wrote the description poorly. Plus, as you noted, I really thought a rabbit was a bad idea – way too common.)

If you’d like to show your support for Fotkipus, though, how about wearing a Fotkiteer avatar for the rest of the week? Here are two Fotkiteers that donned Fotkipus hats, and don’t they look stylish!

Here are the Fotkipus hat templates if you want to try to work one of those into your own avatar. No pressure though.

I really love what you did with your bluish Fotkipus – which is funny because Fotkipus doesn’t look bluish. Thank you so much for taking the time, napomo.

Thank you for your honest comment in the mascot contest, napomo.

As a more substantial thank you, though, I am giving you a $5 (FD) credit toward the purchase of anything your heart desires at FSN:

Exactly, Napomo :)

an option to select whether to allow or not private comments will be added to blog properties. As soon as it done, private messaging will be disabled in the Fotki blog.

Hi Napomo,

thank you. No need to write an inquiry: we are aware of this bug and have been working on fixing it.

re. the phenomenon of private messages in the public forum: I agree that an open discussion as a means for the communication and flow of information within the community does not suppose private messaging.

But some Fotkins asked for this option for their own blogs and that's why Fotki has created it.

Let's wait for comments expressing different points of view to clear up the need for this option in the Fotki blog.

Thanks for the video clip napomo. At first I thought my there was something wrong with my sound and I fiddled with it. AFTER! I read the comments and found it was from the 1940s. That was very very cool. I made it public to share with any one of my guests :).

Kismet, i'd been meaning to drop a line to congratulate you on your wonderful entry in the 'storm' contest. As usual, yours was a work plein d'artistry et sans gimmicks (please excuse my "French?"). You got to me first however. I'm glad that you're enjoying the picture and that your'e doing well. I forget about the Fotki contests too much but i'll make a point of checking for your entries in the future and maybe i'll submit a few of my own. Nice to hear from you and i'll be in touch. In the mean while, we'll have a virtual picnic till the real thing comes along then? I'll have grilled veggies on garlic bread with a dry white wine and a sliver of chocolate mousse with strawberries for dessert...lol....Love to you and Silly, Aurore

(from the Fotki blog)

Hi everybody! :) Thank you for your attention to the discussion and taking the topic seriously!

I've posted some replies below and want to summarize them here.

1. This is a TEST contest. We are really sorry some Fotki members are extremely frustrated about the test contest. But how can we learn about your opinion if not by asking you to participate in test contest and to give us your feedback?

2. We try this voting format for weekly contests only. All other contests have been using the current voting and we are not about to change it.

3. Due to your feedback we see that "I like this more" option is not enough and that's why two additional two options are being added: "I like both" and "Skip both".

4. To zoom in or zoom out a photo, just click on it.

5. The idea of two-stage voting suggested by Orlyyahalom is very interesting and it will be discussed by the development team.

Hi Napomo,

The option to kick the pics you don't wanna vote for at all out of the system will be definitely added: it will the "Skip both!" button.

Mouse over function is also a great idea.

To zoom in/out a pic, one can also click on it.

Thank you for your brainstorming.
