Thanks a lot for your comment and concern to me and my country Dear Friend.
Yes, Really 90% of our people (Myanmar)love Peace and very easy to satisfy our daily Life basically.

That is why, this Army Government is almost 20years already in Myanmar. Hope that you know all about that stupid things from the news. I believe that the junta spoil to my Country. Because of them, we fled (mostly educated people) to other country and working abroad. Far away from my Beautiful and Peaceful land.

I am working in Singapore and my sister family and other relatives are in Myanmar. My parents were passed away. I live more than 10years in Singapore. Go back to my homecountry once a year in holiday time.

Anyway, Thanks for your care Dear Napomo. I never forget you. Because you are the very first person who help me to start in Fotki at first.

All the Best to you too.
Have a nice weekend.
Tun

Hi Napomo,

I just recently(this afternoon) upgrade myself to become a fokti premium member. Once again I would like to thanks for your comments given on my photos some years(yes YEARS ago!) ago. Have been using other online photo site to store my photos but now I decided to give Fokti a try. I am a keen photographer who like to capture anything that I want to share with others, yet I'm not really a pro or anything like those good photographer. Yet the ability of telling a story or conveying a message to others through some pictures keep my camera busy all the time.So any comments and technical guidance will be very much appreciated from you and others. Will try to post up some photos in next few days.

Cheers,
Pat

Hi Napomo!!! One of the new photo contests was just brought to my attention. The one you suggested / Adopt a Fotkin!!! What a creative and imaginative idea!!! Good going. I have not involved myself in photo contests for quite sometime due to time constaints, but wanted to inquire about this one as I see there is some time left for planning.

In doing so, and in order to fully enjoy the contest, I am interested in understanding, complying with, as well as, exploring and utilizing all the parameters of the contest as you, the author, would wish.

As the definitions as described by Fotki are not entirely clear to me from the contest description, would you please help me out (and possibly others as well who may see this).

Some basic questions are:
1. Do two Fotkins team up to produce one unique photo, or do they produce a photo each of the other person?
2. Are teamed up Fotkins to keep their identity a secret, or can it become public knowledge once partnerships are formed?
3. Also, does the other person see or know what the other one is doing? Or is it submitted and seen for the first time in the contest?

I think there will be other questions as this is an intriguing contest. Perhaps this could develop into a foum and the best place for that might be a new Fotki Forum which you could start,,, (not that you need anothe job) but that way everyone has an opportunity to see it and be clear about it... Advise me of the link if and when one is made...

Wishing you all the Best!!! Gary

Hi Gary,

sorry for the delay, my days would need to have 28 hours these days.

Thanks for the praise. I will try to explain as good as I can.

Actually you should be fine if you just follow the description. Means stick to the rule that you do nothing without first getting the approval of your adoptee.

The idea of this contest is to poke with our soft fingers in the hard walls which often still stand between cultures, religions and races and to make them crumble. Since Fotki is open to everyone it mirrors society and with this also come the invisible walls. Yes, for example there are still many accounts of dark or black skinned people who never got a GB entry or comment of white skinned people or have a white skinned person in their "is a friend of" list and exactly the same in reverse, white people who have no GB entries or comments from dark or black skinned persons in their :is a friend of" list ! Ever stood still by that fact? But lucky enough Fotki encourages diversity, tolerance, openness, sharing and the building of friendships and contacts all over the world - you know all about that :) - and that gives Fotkins of all skin colors, religions and/or cultures a fantastic tool to overcome bias, exclusion and indifference.

The goal of this contest is on the one hand to encourage those who never took the chance to fully enjoy this possibilities and on the other hand to introduce Fotki born special friendships. Best would be if it brings people to meet and visit each other and become friends in "real life".

Let me answer your points:

1. No, that doesn't has to be but it could be.

The idea is that you (anyone) adopts a Fotkin, that doesn't necessarily mean that your adoptee adopts you in return. S/he can adopt someone else or do nothing. But in every case you MUST get the agreement of your adoptee for everything you start. One can just start to offer friendship, make friendship, offer support of any kind and care for someone else and introduce the adoptee to the Fotki community, that would be totally OK because the contest is meant to start friendships. That can absolutely come from one side alone, time will show if that eventually builds up a mutual friendship. Of course it would be great if two persons adopt each other from the beginning which would lay the best most promissing basis for a friendship.

As for the photo, well it's not desirable to see the same picture twice in a contest but well with a little bit creativity you might find a solution. Goal should be that every adoptee is introduced by his friend with a seperate entry and the story as seen by the submitter. For different reasons the photo doesn't necessarily have to show the face of the adoptee. A symbolic placeholder like a screenshot of their website, a symbol of friendship or other nice ideas will work just fine. This is not so much a contest about the best photographic work, but exceptionally a project to introduce and enjoy diversity and to build friendships who tear down the walls. It's also not about reverse indiscrimination to proof your open mindedness but about friendship that is supposed to last and grow, so choose carefully. The contest also should have a Part !!, where we show and tell how the evolution of the friendships :D

2. Secrecy is not a must, but I see the contest like a project, with people looking out for other Fotkins, making first and tentative contacts and the contest like a kind of first introduction and telling what's cooking. I think it would be more fun and interesting to wait for the contest as one big event to introduce your adoptee and growing or old Fotki friendships and to not talk too much about till the contest is open.

3. Since mutual consent about and approval of the submission is a strict rule you have to get the agreement for your submission as well as for your story.

Thanks for so much interest in the contest ... makes me happy :)

peace
napomo

PS maybe you should copy your post from my guest book as a new post under my suggestion in the forum http://journals.fotki.com/fotkicom/fotkiblog/entry/sggkwwgkkqf/ and then I will copy my answer as reply too. This way it will be shown in the Fotki Blog and accessable to everyone. Fotki might add a link to this to the contest description.

PhotoHint of the Week

Category: Innovative Travel Shots.

If you travel to Pisa (it is in Europe), you might notice a tower which seems to be noticeably at variance with the usual 90-degree-from horizon placement. Noone has ever taken a photo of a fellow-tourist leaning toward the tower with an out-stretched arm as if trying to keep it from falling. This type of comic shot could win prizes anywhere, if someone would just take the time to capture it. (You heard it here first)

Napomo,

I’m not familiar with “tff,” but I can assure you if that was a technical photography term, then I didn’t do it.

TTFN (ta-ta for now – I think maybe Winnie the Pooh created that).

Hi napomo,
I know it's been almost half year since you left me that encouraging comment on my first contest entry (the birds). I have noticed it only 3 months ago, and today I react on it ;) So in 3 months you'll read my reply ... lol

I appreciate very much that feedback. And I am glad to have the fan like you :)

Unfortunately I am not going to upload more photos on fotki because of the new non-growing policy. But I am putting all to my humble web, but still I cannot spent enough time to make better selections.

I will not say that you have great photos, you know it already ;)

Oh and I fixed the GB settings..

Enjoy next 6 months ;)

Congratulations on your First Place Winner in the Hands contest. I really liked your image. The black and white treatment really made the hands look aged.
