Any idea of the value of a Philco 41-285 radio?  It works and is in halfway decent condition--a neighbor of mine has this item and was wondering what price she should advertise it--saw the pix on the web site of this model--I have not seen the unit myself, but from info from the owners and my wife's verifying it definitely is a 41-285--perhaps I should take a pix of it my self and submit here if possible--My wife did say our friends Philco looked to be in better shape than the one shown being re-habbed here.  Thanks for any info anyone can provide me that I can rely to her.

I am not a real "collector" of Philco radios - I just happened to be given two non-working units about the same time. I suspect that the market is pretty narrow, and the prices not high, unless the radio is in almost perfect condition. The really old ones - the "tombstone" table models usually sell for more than the consoles. If you do a search for Philco radios, there are several very good websites but not a lot on pricing. Don't be guided by eBay prices - they tend to reflect the inflated ambitions of sellers. That's just my own observation, and you may find out that I am completely wrong (wouldn't be the first time or the last). Feel free to contact me at <mikesloane@verizon.net>.

I read the previous message from Charles Knouse and it was unfortunately so well written and described exactly my reaction that it left me with very little to say. (And, boy, that doesn't happen very often!).
I am not a model railroad buff--but I can appreciate the art and effort that goes into creating such a realistic display. I particularly like your "junkyard". Is that red door off a 59 Edsel?? Thanks for the opportunity
to visit from the ATIS site.

The layout is purely for my own entertainment (to keep my mind off of the "real world"), and when things work out well, I am surprised and pleased. I am glad you liked it.

    Hi Mike,
Cool layout! I love the Hustler Cow & Calf. Lots of neat vehicles. Also enjoyed the tractor photos. Especially like the Farmall Cub.
    Best,

Wow, your train setup is fabulous. The junkyard is superb. I also really like the way everything is realistically aged and, where appropriate, grimed. Very realistic. And the old side-railed locomotive; the hotel with the card room; the cars parked along the street; and especially that snow-plow car filled with old wheels for ballast!! The electrical supply is cool, too.

    Thanks, really enjoyed the tour.
