It was the wrong time of day to attempt to shoot out in open sun, but your sense of composition and framing is excellent. Whenever you ducked into the shade, things get better.

I've been lobbying Fotki management for 2 yrs now ... and it seems they FINALLY will be allowing a contest which distinguishes talented artists and can include artistic nudes. It's called the "Blue Ribbon" contest, and they are using my name liberally in all the announcements.

The bottom line is that I wanted to distinguish between artists, such as yourself, versus snapshot shutterbugs. I am trying to establish this contest as being more than just body-art and nudes ... I want it to be accepted as more of a "distinguished artists of fotki" which also is liberal with it's acceptance of artistic nudity.

I appreciate and respect your talent, and I hope you'll participate in this contest with some of your incredible work.

DUDE!
DO NOT miss a chance to shoot with Stacey. One of the best I've shot with, and as you know, I've shot with a LOT of models.

LARA images Premium user United States wrote: Thursday, June 19, 2008 - 7:14 PM

Wow, Stacey was amazing! So breath-taking I had carry my own oxygen bottle. ;)

Remember that my initial uploads are raw when the album numbers into the hundreds.
I'm gonna be mining these shots for some time.

She had such a blast, she came back the next day for more.

Thanks for the love,

Paul

Thanks for all the comments on my shoot w/ Kristen, Neil.
Remember, those are all raw shots, uploaded for her to view.
None of them have been cropped or 'shopped yet, so comments like "get rid of that thing in the corner" is superfluous.

man, it was a hot day. The temperatures were pretty warm, too. ;)

Let me know if you're heading to San Antonio. (It's a 5-hour drive south of Dallas, BTW).

LOL.
"Graffiti Town" is just my nick-name for an old pork processing plant that has been abandoned for more than 20 years, and thus is SOLID with graffiti.

I'll be shooting there again, for sure, now that I can use my strobes in the field.

Thanks for stopping by. I have several photo albums open to everyone to see of my models. The only ones locked are the same shots, where the models can upload them. Feel free to stop by and check the others out. Thanks for saying hi. I added you, and will look at your work more when I have time. All the ladies pix are below, in this folder. :)

Best one IMHO.. love those eyes !! You use reflector on this or a bounce?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Isn't that the same thing? Yes, I had a silver reflector just off camera left, as it was very cloudy that morning.
Thanks so much for visiting! The photos you were looking at were probably from dressage shows. Dressage is all on the flat; but past the beginning/novice classes, lateral movements are introduced. The horse is basically moving in a sideways direction.
I do have jumping (or "hunter/jumper") photos as well. If you go to http://volkenstein.fotki.com/equestrian/sarahonpauley, you'll see a few.
Thanks again!
James
TO ANYONE WHO'S EVER BEEN CENSORED ON FOTKI
... nows a chance to make a statement ...
I entered the shot below in this weeks "Photo Of The Week" contest just because I'm sick of seeing flowers and sunsets in Fotki's contests all the time. They censored me .... so I added a "Censor's Mask" and text to the photo, and re-entered it.
Show your support for artistic nudes in Fotki ... look for the pic above and vote your conscience !!
Hey, started digging in your albums a little bit last night. Some good stuff in there! I will try and come back when I can sit and make a few comments.
Papa-Rotzzi Premium user United States wrote: Tuesday, June 26, 2007 - 5:33 PM
That background on the photos you asked about was very dull, so not a lot of reflected light. On both of the shots, I created duplicate layers in PS. The bottom layer I converted to a high contrast black and white and the top layer a bright over saturated color. Then just change the opacity on the top layer until I achieved the effect seen.
Thanks!
Yeah, I like that kind of trend-line...
As long as I'm getting BETTER, and not worse, it's all good. ;)
