I noticed on the picture of the VAG adapter cable that the center key appears to be cut out. Did you modify it to get a better fit? The adapter I have doesn't fit very well in my 01 TTRQ. I thought I had a facia problem but it may be a key problem.
I didn't cut it out, and without a reference to the specific picture, I am not sure exactly what feature you are referring to. If it is on the OBD end, it doesn't need a key, as the port is directional/trapeziodal anyway.
