Hello Lyn,
I trust all is well ,
this might be of interest
Apparently this is a standard procedure all paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across your cell phone.

ICE - 'In Case of Emergency'

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence the 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.
The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell(mobile)phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency).
The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as 'ICE.'
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.

A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!

Please forward this. It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.

ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.
Regards
Alan

Hello Lyn

I'm back in Fotki land and have a lot of catching up to do. But I also have a request:

I have entered another photo into the competico contest. This one is called: “eyes that say it all”, and would like to ask you to PLEEEEEAAASE vote for me. The only problem is that you have to join to be able to vote but that doesn’t cost anything and you can then enter your own fabulous photos too. The first two are free, to give you a start – so to say. And WHEN (because you will) you win they really pay out. I have so far competed with 6 photos and all 6 won a consolation prize of 2 to 2.50 US $. (it's not the money that counts, it's that they got a good placing). So pretty please (beg beg beg) vote for my photo. Here is the link:

http://www.competico.com/photo/hiding-2

Thank you very very much
Love
Christel
ps In case I have angered you with my request here in your guest book, please accept my apologies and delete this entry.

Thank you for the kind and lovely comment on my "beauty" entry of the Pacific Ocean. I'm truly all for fun, but I'd be too scared to paddle out there where Great Whites could... aah, attack!! But anyways, thanks for taking the time to comment on my photo. sunbean

Hi Lynn
Thanks so much for the congrats, I get near but never win, always destined to be second hand rose :-) We are having some beautiful weather too, with lovely sun, but autumnal, with cool mornings and evenings. As you say, summer is gone. My grandchildren are back at school, and all the winter activities start this week...... off to country dancing this morning.
Thanks again, and have a wonderful day at Loch Ness, such a beautiful part of Scotland. I should imagine your cottage did well this year, Scotland seemed to be hoaching with tourists....... we were at the Edinburgh Festival and were amazed by all the nationalities there...... it was great fun!!!!

Sorry for taking so long to thank you for the kind comment on my Danieli's Palace picture - I've been away on holiday, so have been more or less an internet-free zone!

Looking forward now to catching up with all the new pictures here on fotki - thanks again!

Hi Lynn
Thanks for the comment on my photo of the Edinburgh boxes. I know what you mean, it could be any town in Britain really, couldn't it. Going to London in November for a wee break, so really looking forward to it. What's your weather like up there? It is getting a bit like autumn here, with the nights drawing in, dark around 9pm now.

Hello Lyn,
how is life up in Scotland ?
We are enjoying life in the Lincolnshire countryside
apart from all the rain .
I have enjoyed creating our garden , and like you we enjoy our local
wildlife , the birds are eating me out of home , but we can sit & watch the birds
as we eat !!
the wheat & barley in the adjoining fields has been harvested with the farmers
working through the nights , but potato & pea crops have been lost .
But we do not miss London .
enjoyed the slideshow of your holiday cottage
best regards
Alan

Gidday mate,

I'm writing to you because I found your name in Fred Martel's friends list. Fred is not well & unlikely to improve. He is on a waiting list for a continuous care facility, but they aren't sure how long it will be before a room becomes available for him. I'm not sure if he is still able or well enough to access his fotki site so wondered if you would be kind enough to send him a card?

His wife thinks he would be very pleased to receive cards from his Fotki friends.
The present address to send them to is:

Fred Martel

Cheers

Hi Lyn,

as I know you like to mess with the brush or anything to make pics more interesting, I invite you to look at one newly opened album of mine, where I mess with a bureau-building. Have fun.......and a Happy Easter!
