  • thank you for stopping by my page although it has been months ago. I am not on Fotki so much here lately. I will hvta fix that. you asked me how long it took for my hair to loc. Well, it has been almost 6 years now that I have been loc'd but I think it was like 5 months. It takes patience and determination. I still have along my sides where my ears are a couple of locs that are struggling to loc from the root. It seems like it takes that area a longer time. I love my locs though. I will come to check on you again.

    Hi LMC,

Thanks for stopping by! Twisting on dry hair has taken some tweaking, but for me, the trick is a really good moisturizer. When my hair was shorted, I used to twist with MJ Buttercreme. Don't really love the ingredients, BUT it made for some luscious twists. There days, I just twist with coconut oil.

Here's the trick. Grab whatever amount of hair you're going to twist, run the moisturizer over the length of the hair, from root to tip, and comb through (Or whatever you use - I actually use a denman brush to distribute). For me, the denman ensures I the length is coated with the moisturizer, which then kinda clumps it together, and I just twist from there.

    That's pretty much it.

    Hope this helps!!!
