Hay Rocker, The deposit in Norway is probably mostly iron. This is iron country, the richest Hemitite deposit in the world is along these ridges. I have video of my pal Peter, the King of Havala, explaining the ancient tripple junction of plates here billions of years ago. We met studying geology at Western Michigan University in the '70's. I think there is more gold North of here but some streams do have small amounts of color. I'm searching for a useable kaolinite and other ceramic materials. Love these old rocks, eh? Stay in there!

When I submitted that photo, it was of course my favorite from my choices to submit but I had no idea that it would do so well. I certainly was not expecting a top 10 place.
All the nice votes and comments like yours are encouraging me to continue my work with photography and strive for better images.
I have been busy until today and have not been able to thank you earlier but I see now that Fotki is starting 2 new contests. If you decide to particitpate in one of them, I wish you good luck.

Hi there. Now that the contest is officially over I would like to take some time and thank you for your vote, so fare it’s my best score and I couldn’t have done it without you. Well, that’s not actually important, what’s important is that we get a chance to virtually meet other Fotki members and make friends and that’s the real goal of the contest, I think.
Congrats on coming 60th in the Night Shot contest, not bad when your entry was buried right down the back, AND as many commented you still had the date stamp on. Merc did well and had a very similar shot to yours.
