I would like to adopt a Jewish new year tradition for the near civil year. I would like to apologize if I ever annoyed you in any way in the recent year (we only know each other for a few months, but I have probably annoyed you enough for a whole year). In particular, I would like to apologize for sometimes writing you late at night when I am not at my peak mentally apeaking.
Now I will STOP dealing with the PC or non-PC issues, because frankly there are more important issues to deal with. I think that behind the PC/non-PC there are wide and interesting issues, but dealing with the PC/non-PC too much is in a way focusing on the less important things.
Hey Iggy, surely you wouldn't mention Hanukkah (which ends on Saturday) in the Fotki blog if it didn't fall by chance close to Christmas. I don't know much about Kwanza, but if I am not mistaken, it is not by chance that it coincides with Christmas. This is of course not true for Hanukkah, which precedes the assumed birth of Jesus in more than 100 years.
If you want to say a Merry Christmas, why don't you just say so?
Sorry for being a pain in the ass (I'm just being myself). As a matter of fact I find many of the politically correct habits to be incorrect when I am in their target audience.
I'll try to be more positive. Two suggestions: First, after you say "For many of us, this is the most wonderful time of the year" you can say that for some of us it is just winter, or summer, or whatever. Second, if your greetings are meant to be global, you should mention Eid al Adha, which will be celebrated by a billion of muslims during Dec 31 - Jan 3.
I believe that there are many more major holidays which are being celebrated around the world. I am only aware of the Jewish, Muslim, Western Christian, Orthodox Christian and Druze holidays. Tomorrow our students have a midterm and as always it was quite a headache finding a date that doesn't fall on any holiday or a fast. Well tomorrow falls on Hanukkah, but we study on Hanukkah. And it falls on Friday, but Muslims can study on Friday. All in all you can say I wish the world was as easy to handle as our course... (but some of my students would disagree LOL)
Once again Warm and Sincere Greetings! Much Joy, Love and Prosperity for the next year, and I hope to see you in Haifa! ;)
I never read Omar Khayyam except for the poem in your homepage. I don't read poetry at all actually, but maybe I should try it. After all, a poem takes less time than a novel doesn't it? :) There is a street named after Kayyam in Haifa. There is also a street named Iran, but this doesn't seem such a good choice today.
Anyway, I hope the holidays will give you some break from all your tasks.
Hi Iggy, I just wanted to say thank you my dear friend for the recent visit to my new work and wish you from my bottom of my heart you and your family an enjoyable Christmas and New Year…Warm wishes…Ayyad
