Bob, Haven't seen ya on Model Cars in a while. Was wondering if you had popped some resin copieso f those Porsche wheels for the 904 racer. Hope all is well,
As to the Falcons:hey Bob I’m afraid I put too much in the information box, Yet not really! There are hundreds of stories about the effort Ford put into the Rally Racing program of 1964. This car was a giant killer and many of its records were not beaten until a decade later. In fact one record in speed held up into the 80’s when the Audi Quattro beat it. Bosse Ljungfeldt and Graham Hill broke most racing track records in all Sedan classes at almost every Stage in the event( certain parts of many stages would have track timings on road circurts as a part of the stage) . As legend has it Boose took the Ford Econoline Van (these vans were also prepared by H/M with V8's and beefed up suspension) around one of the tracks for a few laps and beat many of the sedan class records. He was so excited, he said, “Falcon Break, Drive truck”.You must keep in mind this is early 1964. The Falcons had more HP than most Ferraris(including their F1 CARS) at well over 300HP, better handling than must Sedans and lighter weight!!!! These car were just pure raw muscle and nothing else. It’s ashamed that the FIA and the Mustang put a quick end to these extraordinary race cars. The best story/history on these cars can be found in Automobile Quarterly, volume 17, number 4. The article is written by George E. Merwin who was the director of this effort by Ford.
was wanting some more info on the 64 Falcon build.yours is beautiful but you said there was some issues. was wondering what you meant by that.
as far as the price,i consider it cheap compared to buying an AMT issue.i owned a 1-1 64 Falcon with the 170 with 3 on the tree.was very happy to see a kit of one!! any help is much appreciated
Hi Bob, Are you the same Bob from "SAE"? If so, I would like to talk to you & thank you. I can be reached at my "EM". I look forward to hearing from you mailto:madmodelr@aol.com
Robert, First off, thanks for checking out my Fotki page. It's an honor. Second. I really liked the Mercedes AMG SL build you did in the latest Scale Auto. I have been kicking around the idea of getting one, and your build sealed it I think. Nice work!!
Hi Robert, Always love your work and articles. I can't find your article for the Super America was that in Scale Auto? Month and year please. Thanks. Steve B.
Great photos.Your comparison shots of the different spray chromes on the spoons was very interesting. I have had good results as well with both Spaz Stix and Alclad II . One question tho, did you spray all the chromes over gloss black?
Hey Bob, thanks for swinging by my page. I have to readily admit that you are correct about the 8C. What a fantastic automobile. You are correct in saying that it definitely is hard to photograph as you can't just take an angle picture as you need to actually envelope the car as a whole to really appreciate what Alfa Romeo did. As much as I like the Ferrari 599, given a choice the 8C would be in the garage.
Hi, Bob! I'm a big fan of your work and your airbrushing book. Are you ever planning to do a new edition that includes chapters on using HOK and Auto Air Color paints?
