Growing up I couldn't wait for my dad to get the new Street Rodder so I could go to the back to find Modeler's Corner.  If you taught me anything it's that stance and wheel and tires are the foundation for a good looking hot rod. Thank you.

Tim...thanks for the message.  Really cool to know that you actually waited for Modeler's Corner to appear each month in your dad's SRM.  Also glad to know that you picked up on wheels/tires and stance....something we talk about a great deal in my 1/1 scale job!   Thanks again and best regards....TIM

Chuck...thanks for sending me the pix. I think the idea of an Olds F85 Sedan Delivery, paired with the Aurora V8, is BRILLIANT!!!! Please keep me in the loop as you progress this one.....Best regards...TIM

My review of this kit is due to appear in one of the model car magazines (approximately August 15) and after that issue is finished on the newstand, I will reopen access to these folders.....best regards...TIM

Nice job on the Jet Boat. I'm the owner of the 1970 Weiman that served as the example for the scale Berkely Jet Drive project. There's one glaring in-inaccuracy with adapting the "hull raiser" model to jet drive: There were almost NO flat-bottom jet boats produced or built. Jet boats are almost universally deep-V configuration. The BGJ and BFJ classes in APBA were V-bottom hulls.

This is because by nature, a flat-bottom tends to run with the hull out of the water. This would raise the jet-pump's intake out of the water. A V-bottom however, will have only the portion of the hull that contains the intake in the water, and the flow of water will contain little air or turbulance, which really upsets the efficiency of a jet-drive.

A V- bottom is also a much more forgiving hull to operate at speed, and has a much better ride. All qualities of a good 'Family Boat', a role which flat-bottoms have never filled very well.

    Regards,

Hi Tim,how's it going.I have always enjoyed looking at your models in Scale Auto and now here on Fotki. I've had the pleasure of meeting you twice at the 2003 Toledo NNL and 2006 Toledo NNL,fellow Minnesota modeler Bob Hood introduced me to you. I don't want to sound like I'am sucking up to you but your articles always inspire me to build better models.Bob Hood has also been an inspiration to me. If you want to find me on Fotki, my user name is 55smallblock.I would really enjoy hearing from you if you ever get the chance.Take care.
