I know you're acquainted with another modeler on Fotki known as "dmacb." I'm trying to contact his friends to let them know that Doug passed away (lung cancer) on 11/13. Doug was my brother-in-law. Just thought you'd like to know if you notice that he is not active anymore.
Good evening Paul...........just heard on the news of the earthquake in Christchurch. I know you're quite a ways from there but I'm hoping you're OK. Just concerned.
Thanks Mike. Just wee one up our way. Those poor people in Christchurch, every time they clean up their lives another one comes and messes everything up all over again. Don't know how they do it! Hope you have a great Christmas, Paul:)
Good morning Paul. I've just been looking at your airplane models. Impressive detail...well done. My friend Doug is similarly impressed. I live just a few miles from Oshkosh, Wisconsin where the Experimental Aircraft As*ociation (EAA) holds its annual AirVenture Convention.....the largest convention in the world. Planes of ALL sorts are there.......a modeler's dream for checking on details closeup. You might like to eyeball a some images taken there a few years ago. Check it out: http://public.fotki.com/lestension/airplanes/
Thanks for your nice comments Mike. Aircraft have never really been my thing. It isn't that I don't like them but how do I find the time to love something else?!?! I enjoyed doing the kits for the local Hasegawa importer and then really fell in love/lust with the WW1 stuff after my latest SE.5a commission build. I have a couple of these kits for myself now. I really found it hard giving it over to my customer:( Enjoyed your pics thanks, hope I can get over one day and catch a few shows! We do have some very good air shows here WW1/WW2 related but haven't been! I do live right next door to our local airport and get to see lots of them on their way to the big ones down south though which is neat.
Thanks for visiting my site. You do very nice model work as does my friend Doug. If you haven't seen his work you can find him at Dmacb on the Fotki site.
I had never heard of Kapiti, NZ so I Googled Mapped it. The only reference I could find is an Island by that name. There appears to be only half a dozen buildings on the whole island. Surely you cannot access Fotki in that remote an area.
Hi Mike Yes I enjoyed looking though your site and will have to check back for more:) I also had a look at your friends lastnight and that was great, so thanks for letting me know. I need to go back and have a better look though! I live in a place called Paraparaumu Beach which is on the Kapiti coast. Kapiti Island which you would have been looking at lies just off the coast. It is about a 10min boat ride and is a nature researve these days. It is a beautiful relaxed place to live although fairly bleak and windy today! Paul
AhHa........Now I've located you. I always like to know my way around, if you know what I mean. I see you are right across the "hill" to the west of Upper Hutt. I have a friend there......Amanda McLaren. Perhaps you have heard of her father, Bruce. I am track photographer at a road racing circuit in Wisconsin called Road America near Elkhart Lake (http://www.roadamerica.com/) I met her a few years ago at a race attended by many of your countrymen. Small world.
I've just taken a virtual Google-Map tour down Eatwell St. (cool name). Looks like a pretty laid-back community. Interesting plants (I'm a biologist)...some I've not ever seen before. I would like to explore here.
Thats us Mike. There are some ranges between us and Upper and Lower Hutt, about an hour drive away. Everyone here knows who Bruce is:) He is an icon here! On the wall behind where you see me with my family(above our heads out of shot) are 3 framed prints; Bruce at Monaco'69 also Bruce and Chris Amon at Le Mans '66 and one of Denny Hulme at the German GP in '67. They were our "Trio at the Top" so to speak. I see you have been down Eatwell ave? I live just off Eatwell in Toru Road:) Toru is Maori for "3" I have just been enjoying your albums. Great photos! I really like the way you capture an event with the people etc and not just the cars. I still have a lot to see as you have many albums! I am always very envious of the auto events especially you have over there!
I have always been envious of your marvelous trout streams. Maybe I'll visit one day; if you ever find yourself in Wisconsin, look me up. I can get you a photo pass to the track events.
Hi, Thanks for friending me. I got a chance to see some of your projects and the F1 and buildings are outstanding. I will be back to see what else you are doing Thanks Chuck
Thanks Chuck, Likewise and I will be returning for a better look at your albums also. Your Hasegawa Testa Rossa was what grabed me,I have the same kit waiting to be built!
