Congratulations Mikhail on your splendid picture with the Octopus in the Curiosity contest. It was a beautifully coloured picture & I'm really pleased it did so very well! Look forward to seeing your pictures more!
Mikhail, many thanks for taking the time to comment on my "Roman Toilets" in the Curiosities Contest; they were really fun to visit, tho there was no "smellie machine" (perhaps just as well!!). Jeff
I'm writing to you because I found your name in Fred Martel's friends list. Fred is not well & unlikely to improve. He is on a waiting list for a continuous care facility, but they aren't sure how long it will be before a room becomes available for him. I'm not sure if he is still able or well enough to access his fotki site so wondered if you would be kind enough to send him a card?
His wife thinks he would be very pleased to receive cards from his Fotki friends. The present address to send them to is:
Fred Martel c/o Glenrose Hospital Unit 4D 10230 - 111 Avenue Edmonton, Alberta, Canada T5G 0B7
Hi Mikhail...I came across your water/waterfall album on the homepage. I think I have to visit upstate New York. Your photos have made it look quite appealing. Well done.
still no sign of life from you - I really hope that this is due to an exiting and productive life that has more important things to take care of than maintaining your (awesome) pages at Fotki - in other words: I hope you are fine.
The reason why I show up this time (and in public) is to lead the attention of an article I read today and that might find your interest. It's an article in the english pages of the german magazin Der Spiegel about the demolition of parts of the worlds heritage at the Red Square in Moscow.
I cannot figure what buildings actually got demolished by this vandalic act in the interest of a few greedy and corrupt people but I thought you or one of your friends who might read this might know more about this, has a picture of the buildings in questions and would be interested to put the essence of the info from the article under this picture.
Be fine my friend and please give a sign of life, you are missed!
I was wondering if you would think about contributing to the Fotkins Collective Wisdom forum. There are thousands of photography how to sites on the web, but I thought it would be nice if we could have a central resource of our own, contributed to by fotkins. It's designed for experienced photographers to post "how tos" and to provide a central place for fotkins to ask photography related questions.
I'm an amateur but I wrote one to start it off. To give you an idea of the sort of thing I'm after you could have a browse:
You have a fabulous portfolio, but if you could select one subject and post, it would be a valuable and greatly appreciated asset to the fotki community.
Your pictures are always inspiring.. What a treasure Fotki is. Sitting at ones computer, you can tour the whole world and see as fine a collection of art as you might see if you visited a lot of museum.s
This site shows the photos and videos my wife Korrie made during her Scuba Diving stay at the Maldives Islands, November 2006. It's a Dutch language site, but as there is hardly any text, I guess you can find your way around.
The Maldives are located in the Indian Ocean, to the South of India, just above the equator. They are famous for their underwater sea life.
I bought a Fuji F30 for her, of course with an underwater housing :-), just before she left. The F30 got rave reviews everywhere, it's the best compact camera by large margins in it's price class. The video you see on this site was originally shot at 640 * 480, 30 fps with sound (yes, you can hear her talk underwater Dutch -a rare Dutch dialect- sometimes!), the photos are 6.3 megapixel originally. The home page shows a selection of all photos, presented as a Flash slideshow (you all know I always present it this way... :-)).
Korrie will love it if you sign the Dutch guestbook!
I enjoyed your documentation of the beautiful states of Vermont and New York. I am an ex-truck driver, and always enjoyed the beauty of that area. I'll come back to see some more of your photos later. Jim the Pentax Man !
