Hey, i started transitioning January 19, 2008 and yeah it is a bit difficult. What i recommend is like you said wash your hair in sections and take them down one by one. Start detangling small portions of the hair until you detangle the entire head. I am planning to do ponytails rollersets so that it would be easier to maintain my hair once is dry.
