Hi Bob.The two stroke Saab 96 was a shortnose. The V4 engine forced longer nose. The shortnose is only available as a curbside '61-'64 model. I'm not sure if the '66 96 Monte Carlo shared the long nose from the new V4 96, or retained the older shortnose. The V4 Saab Air-Trax make, is a '69, and a '79. The '69 have a simular nose as the '66 longnose, but the grill stops before the headlights, having a chromesurounding. You migh be such a modeller that You could transform the Trabant engine into a simular looking engine. Revell AG newest issued Trabbi beeing full detail. You might even have the skills to transform the grill to a correct '66 grill. It's possible to ask for two grills from the '69, giving a opertunity to make the correct headlights surrounding.
If You wish to buy a Saab, I'll let You have Air-Trax Paypal account, and then You pay directly to them. I sell them for the same price, but I don't have the two stroke in stock, thereby it is faster for You to get them from Finland. Even if You wish the longnose '69, it is probably better to buy from Finland, as theire castings are beeing better, and better. Also, if the '69 grill looks more like the '66 You had, You need two grills, I just asume this, and thereby easier from Finland. I would be afraid to enter any models myself. I do not think my modeling skills are of contest quality. Plus, I like to built models that are not mainstream.
I build models for fun and I have enjoyed posting my builds on FOTKI. I think if I built models for a contest it would be more like work than for fun.
