How is the model building hobby doing in Norway. Over here it seems like there are fewer and fewer hobby shops and fewer new vehicle models being issued. Over the last 4 years I know of 5 hobbies shop that have closed in the Detroit Metro area. There is only one shop in the Ann Arbor area (where I live), the next closest shops are about 25+ miles (40K+) away. I do allot of shopping online (too much!). I think the younger generation has too other things to do today than build models.
But I think my building models as a child helped go into engineering as a career.
Great photos of the model show. Did you enter any models?
I would be afraid to enter any models myself. I do not think my modeling skills are of contest quality. Plus, I like to built models that are not mainstream.
I build models for fun and I have enjoyed posting my builds on FOTKI. I think if I built models for a contest it would be more like work than for fun.
I do not have any plans of the snowplow. I brought a resin snow kit from the web. I was disappointed with the kit. I believe it was a copy of an MPC snowplow that came in a Jeep model. I used the resin snowplow as a guide. I made the plow larger - 8 foot wide vs. 7 foot for the resin kit. I also relied on memories of my twin brother’s old snowplow that he had on his 1969 Ford pickup, from pictures on the WEB and looking at plows in the parking lots around here. I did learn a lot about soldering building the plow.
I also have a collection of post World War II aircraft models. I build 110 planes between 1972 and the early 1990s. When I got too busy with work, I started collecting diecast models in 1/25 and 1/18th scales; I have over 500 diecast models. Since I retired I have started building models again. I like to build models that are not run-of-the-mill. I cannot seem to build a model out of the box.
I like Chrysler product models as I retired from Chrysler.
Sorry I haven't been around much lately, I've been kind of busy. But I hope to stop by later and view some of your photos.
In the meantime, I wanted to say "Hi" and to also give you this link to a really funny goat video at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMZIbRjmodc Hope you enjoy it! It makes me laugh every time. :-)
