Thank you so much for giving me one of the many votes that helped me get 1st place in the night shot contest.
When I submitted that photo, it was of course my favorite from my choices to submit but I had no idea that it would do so well. I certainly was not expecting a top 10 place.
All the nice votes and comments like yours are encouraging me to continue my work with photography and strive for better images.
I have been busy until today and have not been able to thank you earlier but I see now that Fotki is starting 2 new contests. If you decide to particitpate in one of them, I wish you good luck.
Yan.
(PS: People have asked me if I could upload a high res copy of that image for printing purposes. I may create a new folder in my fotki folders for that. That new folder should be up within the coming week.)
I have not yet received my rebate. If they reject one of your items you'll lose the multiplication factor.
I would have thought you bought the 16-35mm f/2.8L by now. I'm happy with the lenses I have and I'm not planning on buying some any time soon. I am considering buying a new carry around camera. Possibly the Canon S3 or S2(12x zoom with IS) or maybe a small underwater camera like the Pentax WPi. Maybe I'll buy them both and give my wife one. LOL.
I like 16-35mm f/2.8L but I not sure how much I'd actually use it. I feel the same way about the 70-200 f/2.8L IS. I have my range kinda covered with the 24-105mm and the 100-400mm. A wider angle would be better but for the amount of times I would use it and for the price $1400. I can't justify it in my head unless I start making some serious money of my pictures. I was asked to do weddings but refused, I feel it would take all the enjoyment out of my picture taking.
I have to thank you. If it wasn't for you I'd still be using my 17-85mm efs and 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS. My mew lenses are totally worth every penny.
I'm considering on going to the St Patricks Day parade in NYC tomorrow but it's going to be like 34 degrees. Yuck.
Hi there. Now that the contest is officially over I would like to take some time and thank you for your vote, so fare it’s my best score and I couldn’t have done it without you. Well, that’s not actually important, what’s important is that we get a chance to virtually meet other Fotki members and make friends and that’s the real goal of the contest, I think.
Thanks for the vote in the Night Shot contest. It's my first Fotki photo contest..... Also If you have any tips for me on how I can improve, that would be a big help to me....
