HI!,
Thanks for your vote!!!
The picture was a hard to get one...light metering against that glass ceiling and dark hall f.i. and lots of bins, people and advertising boards and lights in the way. This was the only angle I could use avoiding all of them LOL so not that much creativity involved this time!
kind regards,
Viviane

Hi Brad,
I had a look at your macros as you asked me and I see what you mean.
I had and still have sometimes the same problem. It is really hard to figure out how to get the right dof.
It is really trial and error, but there are a few tips and tricks.
On my camera Canon 350D there is a button that when pressed in shows the dof of the picture on the LCD screen, not 100 percent accurate but still very helpful!
I hope you understand what I mean...hard to explain technical stuff in english! :)
Depth of field is affected by the aperture, subject distance, focal length, and film or sensor format.
A larger aperture (smaller f-number, e.g. f/2) has a shallow depth of field. Anything behind or in front of the main focus point will appear blurred. A smaller aperture (larger f-number, e.g. f/11) has a greater depth of field. Objects within a certain range behind or in front of the main focus point will also appear sharp.
Coming closer to the subject (reducing subject distance) will reduce depth of field, while moving away from the subject will increase depth of field.
Lenses with shorter focal lengths produce images with larger DOF. For instance, a 28mm lens at f/5.6 produces images with a greater depth of field than a 70mm lens at the same aperture.

Here are a few links to explanations I found interesting/helpful:

I hope all this is of any help...keep me posted! :)

Hi!!!!!!
I wanted to stop and take this time out to thank you for your vote in the speed contest! I did not win, but I had a lot of fun looking at all the different entries and things that people came up with! No it’s not about wining it is about the enjoyment of meeting so many new people from around the world and seeing there cultures and life styles! Thru the camera!

Your friend
Cobra
P.S. Nice to talk to someone that is so close! I am in Tampa!

Hi Brad,

I haven't had alot of Fotki time this summer. I've been really busy. That doesn't mean I haven't taken alot of pictures, 17,000 since May. I have, I just haven't had time to post them for the public.
I see you finally recieved your 16-35mm, I need to get a wide angle zoom lenses. I wanted the 16-35 but am considering the 17-40 f4.0/L. It's more tahn half the price. Only 1mm less wide and the 5mm more the other direction. It's one stop slower. I'm so confused.

I'm bringing my wife to the store hopefully this weekend to see if she likes the way the Xti fits in her hand, it's time for her to put the 300d to rest.
Oct 15th starts the new Canon rebate, if they offer the 5D @ $300, i'll serious consider it, because I'm going to pick up the 50mm f/1.4 and either the 16-35 or or 17-40. Then I'll get the triple rebate.

Sorry, I haven't stopped by sooner
