I have been natural for more than 5 years ( lost count) and I have neglected my hair for the past 1 1/2 years. Due to the neglect I had to cut my hair at least 5 inches. Now I have noticed more damage I plan on cutting more inches off. So I understand your situation. It took a friend to remind me to learn from my mistakes and learn how to take care of my hair again. And I'm doing just that. Stay strong.

Thank you for visiting my fotki and for the compliments. I'm sorry to hear about your setbacks. I've gotten a few single strand knots before. For me they were caused by dryness. Since I've found a way to keep moisture in my hair, I rarely get them. Good luck with your hair and I hope you find what works best for you.

Aw girl, i'm so sorry to hear about the hair problems. I too have been dealing with single strand knots from time to time but it's not really that bad. I just try my best to detangle more often and wash my hair every 2-3 days as well as moisturizing... that seems to help. The longer my hair gets the more i HAVE to detangle. Whatever you decide i hope you're happy and that your hair continues to grow healthy and strong. Keep me posted no matter what you decide.

I had the same problem with the knots, because I wore my hair out without being properly moisturized. I had to cut my hair off. I did it in July and my hair is already back to it's original length. Just cut your hair and it will grow in no time, we have very similar textures. Surprisingly I did not even put anything on my scalp I have just been using garniers curl sculpt cream and gel. Good luck hun and i hope you make a decision that you are most comfortable with.
