Hi Rob , I googled Karbelt and ended up on Percy pictures ,, I am looking for pictures and info on my dads Karbelt B/A 23 T out of Montreal Quebec We raced at Deseronto,& St Thomas back in mid 60's .My dads name is Jim Adam . My name is Mike Adam and my email is mailto:mikeadam@gusbrown.com. Thanks
No just announcing. I've decided to put the car away until I get some steering issues fixed. One of many items to be tended to over the winter. Looks like it's going to be a nice day are you racing?
yes i,m planning to, mine also needin some changes, thinkin of putting a alt. back in , better heads, and fix up the body.as for racing going to give it a try again do mostly t&t but rather race
The knuckle needs replacing as it's way too small and I have a header clearance issue on that side that needs to be addressed. The car is going to DSE in the next week or so, I hope, and then I can put it up on stands and drain the water and all the other winter chores. This weekend is basically the last for me at the track, the end of the month is the Rodmasters swap meet at Ancaster and I've had a table at that show for years. Are you aware of the situation involving Lloyd Mitchell. He races a silver 81 Camaro in Mod with Sanford Racing Engines on the door. He was in a work accident where a tire came off a truck rim and busted him up real bad. We're thinking of doing something for him when he's out of the hospital but for now there's a bank account set up for the family. More info here...http://canadiandragracing.net/showthread.php?tid=334
Hi Rob ,Yes i will be going to the bank this week to put some money in for Lloyd . Don,t know the man but i broke my back in 3 places back when i was 40 with a farming accident. So i will help out.talk 2 you later rob
Looking at pictures again and reconize you,Bill Hall, Alf,Tony, drank a lot of coffee with Wayne ,Wayne at that time was living in the east end, do you ever here from him?he was working for his brother in the antique business i think?be nice 2 meet up with him again thanks rob i myself living in the wellandport area
I have talked to Wayne on the net, Tony I see regularly, Bill passed away a couple of years ago, and Norton is still around but I don't see him at all. Who are u?
how would i get ahold of wayne. its funny small world.i still remember cruisin in my 67 chevelle ss 396 from east end up to the west end hanging out .met wayne at the a&W , GOOD TIMES The only one i,ve kept in touch with from the east end is Pete tsilbanis and his wife Carel
I can't find Wayne's email so I don't know how to get a hold of him. I have a 67 Rambler American with a BBC and a 9 inch on a four link. I've owned the car on and off for about twenty years but just this year made it to the track.I usually announce so chances to race are rare but I plan to run the ONDR and OSCA next year. There's a final bracket race this weekend that I going to run and then a couple of TnT's before they lock the gate.
I've owned the car on and off for almost 20 years. I bought it off a close friend's estate as a roller and then sold it about ten years later as such. I had a AMC 401 for it and some AMC parts that went with the car. I told him to call me if he wanted to sell it and he eventually did. He put a 396 in it with a turbo but never could get the car down the track. A couple of trans, a driveshaft, a spin out and a general lack of fun convinced him to stick it outside under a car port for a winter before I bought it back. I had to replace lots of stuff because of the rot from the weather. Jamie Wildgoose did most of the work as I wanted it done right and in time to race this year.
Hi Rob looking at your A&W pictures and i meet a lot of you guys . I hung out at the Queenson rd a&w most of the time back then i had a 67 chevelle 396 red then a 68 camaro (yellow) small world. pics bring back a lot of memories thanks again rob benson
We would cruise down to the east end sometimes and hang out at the Queenston Rd A&W. There were always lots of cool cars there. Glad you liked the pics, wish I took more.
Rob, thanks for all the good pictures, I was disappointed that there weren't any of my car "back in the day". I have some great pictures from the early 70s from Dragway Park if you can use them. Have you got any pictures of Bruce Scobie, John Blain or George Swick's cars? Look forward to seeing more pictures in the future. Regards, Chris Hadler
Chris I am now in the process of updating the list. I do need more early 70's shots as I didn't get to the track until later in the decade. Where are you located?
Rob, We can meet in Grimsby on the weekend or any night of the week except Thursday, I need some time to assemble the pictures and some of them are slides but I am sure we can get together in the next week or so. I look forward to meeting with you. CH
Rob, thanks for the all of the pictures. especially the pictures of the karbelt percy also pics. I am the nephew of Carl (the Jap) Skura. He was one the original owner with Curly and Nick. The best pic is the one of me standing by the car when I was 10. Thanks again, Mike Skura
Hi Mike, your uncle and his friends built and raced THE most famous drag car to come out of Ontario EVER. I'm glad you enjoyed the pics and please feel free to send me any you might have of your uncle and or the car. robpotter1@cogeco.ca
Rob, I'm a huge fan of John Petrie, and was astonished to see 18 pictures here that I'd never seen before! Well done! I'll soon have a tribute page up and running for John, and will also be an archivist for his memorabilia. For now, enjoy the photos that I've collected: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dodgedeora/sets/72157621867543326/
Added a few more. Nice set of Petrie pics on flickr. Feel free to use mine on your tribute page. Have you talked to Gary Mclenen (sp)? He knew John in the day. I see Gary when Mitch King's fuel cars are at the track, he's on the crew.
