Contests are a lot of fun and I really enjoy them but many don't vote according to photographic merit. Some vote according to their groups of friends, some according to what is aesthetically pleasing about a photo without considering the skill required to make the shot, and some seem to have no rhyme or reason with their voting at all. Some seem to have a personal axe to grind and use the comments section of the contest to vent their spleen!

The difficulty for fotki is how to balance the differing needs of a massive and widely varying (in taste and skills) client base. I think they do a pretty good job all things considered, but I know many have stopped competing because of the difficulty of balancing outstanding photographers such as yourself with those who just want to have a bit of fun.

This quandry has caused much heated debate, but I'm not interested in being involved in that, I just look forward to the enjoyment I find with the wider interaction with more similar interest fotki types.

I am glad you like the picture that much. I know, however, that being on page 7 means I don't have a change at all! :) It is very simple, you need to submit your picture fast and only then you will get the votes you deserve...or more! I don't feel like doing that, it is for fun and I am not going to sit there and wait till I can submit, I have better things to do (like taking pictures!)
Your foxes are so cool, they must be hard to get in that pose!

You're welcome Al! I already entered, not in your class, but I like the imagery, even though it's out of focus. It reminds me of the Nazgul in LOTR.
