Hello Velvet,

That "Almost Monochrome" title in my mind is about color pictures with very pale and muted colors. Some of those look very much like monochromes until you look at them closely. When I take pictures in the fog often the colors are washed out. So my take would be a "natural" color photo with very little color in it. Another example is a photo I have of a gray snake on a gray tree with just a dab of green in it.

I don't find that the contests follow the themes closely so I think alternative interpretations are certainly possible if you have a great idea.

I think Fotki would benefit from explanations of these concept contests. I have seen them won by photos that seemed to have nothing at all to do with the theme. I admit to
not understanding how people think when they make their decisions. Your idea about a single color element, perhaps very pale, could be very nice. I have seen that done on greeting cards and they are very emotional I think.
