Misha, I was not born in Russia, and neither was my father. But my grandfather was and he had to escape with his life when he was a teen to leave behind the slaughter of Jews that was happening there. I am sorry that people are dis-respecting your Fotki site. I agree with everything that you said and I hope that someday you (All of us for that matter) can live in a world that is void of prejudice behaviour of any kind. Dear Fotki friends, members and guests. I have lived half my life in the former Soviet Union to know the "ugly face" of racial prejudice and anti-Semitism. Upon immigration to the United States, I naively thought that I would leave all that behind in mother Russia. If you remember not too long ago I was deleting any and all bad comments directed toward anyone and anything. Recently, I have seen the light of democracy, and have extended the freedom of speech to large degree on my Fotki page. What then do I get for this courteous gesture of good will? More blatant slander, rampant anti-Semitism and same old racial prejudice that I left behind 14 years ago. I know that the majority of the people who visit my page are decent people that leave positive comments. There are however a few rotten apples in every bunch, these are the people that are directly responsible for the following sentiments. My friends, the time has come to take over the commentary content on my out of control Fotki page. With that in mind, I feel that there needs to be a "cooling off" period. Upon concurring with my friends and collogues I have decided to retire some pictures and the ability to comment for people other then Fotki members. Furthermore, all future anonymous comments (be they positive or negative) will be erased. Meaning that if you want to leave a comment, you must be a member of Fotki and provide your member name. I cannot say how long this sanction will last, hopefully, I and all who were affected by the hateful and slanderous comments, will once again see the light of democracy and allow the freedom of speech. Ultimately, I want my page to be a shining beacon for the Chicago Russian Community to come together as a whole and relive the memories of good times through my pictures.
