I now own the Superbird that was the pace car at Sunset Speedway in 1971/72 and wonder if you may have some photos of the car? I'm currently restoring it back to how it looked as the 1971 pace car. I've had custom decals made to duplicate the original lettering on the car. I have an original photo from Glenn Shakell and can see that there is some kind of image on the hood, but it is not possible to see what it is. Hope you or someone can help. Thanks Jim
Hi and congratulations on keeping this history of Barrie Speedway alive. I was the track photographer for a period of time in the track's early years and reported weekly races to The Barrie Examiner and occasionally other media in the late 60s. I still have some negative files of photographs I took. It was interesting to see your site....bringing back some great memories! Thanks!
Good to hear from you Larry. Hope things are going well out west. I'l say hi to Dad for you, he still comes up from London to help out in the pits at Barrie with my brother Keith's car.
I'm not sure how active this site is any more, as it appears Keith was still racing up to a couple of years ago. Crazy. If you can send me your dad's contact info, I'd love to catch up with him. I haven't touched base with him since my Dad past away a few years back.
