God Bless Larry Watson as he was one of the best car and motorcycle painters in the world and he will always be missed. In the last few years we have lost many of our original car, motorcycle, builders and painters and I know God will provide them with a special place in Hot Rod Heaven.

Rik - First time to your site - Thanks for sharing this incredible archive.. I've been a Car guy since my mom got our first car in '49 - paid $40 for a '34 ford w/rumble seat.. I was 7 years old - I don't think I ever rode "inside" that car! (I still carry a pic of that car in my wallet after over 60 years..) It's efforts like this site that contribute so much to keeping the flame alive.. I'll be back again 'n again... Regards.. an 'ol rodder...

I saw the Bill Cushenberry '40 Ford--the unnamed blue one- and it brought back memories. I watched Bill build it back when I was a kid. Do you know if it is still around and if so, where? I seem to remember it being a daily driver for some guy in San Francisco, but I am not sure.

Rik, do you have any photos of the shop Barris was in back in 1962. A buddie of mine and myself drove around the country in 1962, starting in CT. We stopped at the Seattle Worlds Fair and met Bud Anderson, the "Cat" from AMT. We told him that we were hoping to meet George Barris when we got to CA. He gave us 1 of his cards and wrote on the back, "George, show these guy's around the shop, there buddies of mine"! I wish I still had that card. We got to the shop on a Saturday morning. There were ropes stretched across the openings of the work bays that read "these ropes are not to keep us in, there to keep you out". George was there, we showed him the card, and he showed us around the shop. I remember seeing the Ala Kart in a little showroom as well as what I think was the original chopped Model A coupe that the Chrisman brothers built for the drag strip. It was now a show car, and lmight have been called the Tangerine something, can't remember now. To say that they were both great people is an understatement. Thanks Rik for this site, definitely my favorite. Karl
