Hi Paul, thanks for dropping in. Regards shooting the moon: it's the settings. If the moon is coming out a white blur, your shutter speed is too long. The beauty of digital is that you can experiement to your heart's content - keep reducing the amount of time the shutter is open until you get detail showing in your shot.
If you look at the exif data you can see what setting I used on each shot. For this shot they were:
F-Number: F/11 Exposure Time: 0.05 sec. 1/20 Metering Mode: Multi-segment Exposure Program: Manual ISO Speed: 80
The advantage of shooting the moon is that you have plenty of time to make your shots because it's not going anywhere. Another tip I found is to fire the flash sometimes, the CCD picks it up somehow and it can give a bit of glow to the shot you don't get without it.
I also always use a tripod & cable release for low light photography.
This is an oil seed crop called Canola and that's the colour it grows (it used to be called Rape seed). It was washed out down the headlands during a big storm which was a real bummer because it would have made a much better photo with a full paddock.
