    Gday Pete

I too am hanging in too.  Sort of feels a bit lonely however I often get spikes in terms of "number of hits" which makes me quite nervous (~ 3500 per day) and wondering if someone really pinching photos.   However I still find it convenient place to share with family and a few friends so I will persist for awhile.

I too have Star Walk but for some reason I dont get it to function in line with my expectations.  Looks great but the life view leaves me a little confused.  I will try a little harder.   Your astronomy collection is stirring me to more action.

I tutor maths from Year6 to Year10 and I like using astronomy examples e.g. size of moon, distance to moon - I am stunned how the Greeks worked out things with simple instruments and observation.   Greatly interests me but so far not a lot of success with inspiring the interest of students, who clamour for real world examples.

    Cheers
    Richard

Good evening Pete.........I feel your pain and agree that Fotki needs CPR or a cardio-conversion of some sort.  I'm still here and I hope you are staying on.  I love looking at your star photos and marvel at their beauty.  Do you use that D300S to capture the images?  maybe a motor drive anchored to the North Star?  Your Exif details are not usually visible so I have little clue as to your technique.  Generally speaking, I shoot action sports for a living...by that I mean if it isn't moving rather quickly it escapes my attention.  That said, I need to learn how to do what you do so well.  I know things are moving quickly "out there" but relative to me......they are sluggish.  New technique to learn one of these days...I mean nights...when I find the time.  Hang in there.

Dear Mike. Thanks for the comment. I am hanging on in there and should have stuff to upload soon. The Star photos are not mine (I wish they were) they are from an Ap called Star Walk that I use to track the night sky. Its acknowledged in the folder details. As they are public domain I can sent you copies. I want to learn the technique of creating star tracks but haven't got round to it yet what with the day job - in the meantime like you I admire those who can create the images. It will happen one day.

      Best wishes

      Pete

Hi Pete, nice to hear from you. Thanks for your comment regarding the photograph we took in the Samaria Gorge. You sound more energetic than we were as we didn't venture very far down into the gorge itself. It was hot but looked cloudy inland so we thought we'd stay out of harms way. We took several photographs at the top of it though, a couple of which are in the album. The house move is still ongoing but we're in the hands of the solicitors now so it's taking it's time. Hope you are both very well. Paul

      Hi Paul

Thanks we are good. Close to the Thames but not close enough to be flooded, although we are just on the edge of potential flooding. Janine's Dad has 6 inches of water in his garden but nothing in the house. Lots of trees down though. Hope you have not been battered too much.

      How is the move going?

      Pete

Glad to hear that you're all ok. Hopefully that's the worst of it over with though I feel so sorry for all those that have had everything ruined. The floods might go but it will take months, even years, to recover. Anyway, our move is progressing slowly - nothing signed yet.

Hi Pete. Sorry I've not been in touch but we've been busy as we're in the initial stages of moving house, (maybe!!). Hope you're all well and looking forward to spring like we are.
