THANK YOU Peter! I noticed that feature a few days ago and forgot to see where I can shut it off.

Thanks Peter for telling me about that avatar!
It happens frequently and I think Fotki should stop adding Sharing options etc without asking us since it happens all the time recently.
That person does not have a single picture to share with me herself but thinks it is OK to steal mine and use it all over the place as an avatar!
It is one of my contest entries....
Anyway...I hope this will put to an end soon ...
Have a good day!

Yeah it's one thing to be able to link photos to your own facebook or whatever it is you want to do, but for someone ELSE to be able to do it is completely out of order. It's almost like fotki are saying to thieves it's ok to do this because we've made it easy. I know they understand copyright so it's hard to understand why they would do this. Shelley reckons they're trying to keep up with the features that webshots is offering, but apparently on webshots, only the owner can post the pics, which is the way it should be here.

Thanks Peter, I had tried logging out and it didn't appear so I thought it was just for my use. Gone now........

A photo which I had posted elsewhere had been hotlinked to by so many sites it had reached over 330,000 views!

Ken

yes, they did change it to that, but now they changed it back again. You can check by trying it on other people's fotki sites that don't have it turned off yet.

330,000 views, that's amazing! I was worried about 28,884 hits. If you get too much traffic fotki shut you down for the day due to excessive bandwidth usage.

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain the share button. Hard to believe Fotki sets it to share as default. Have a nice Sunday!

I was checking out your fireworks photos and thought I would vollenteer my help
Some better advise. Shooting from a tripod. I use a rermote also Try setting your aperture to f.13 or f.14 set your ISO from 100 to 400 depending on how close you are. Focus on a display as it explodes and leave it there for subsequent photos Your exposure should start shortly after the shell is launched and last around 3.5 to 4 seconds. I hope this helps
