I noticed this small odd plant in the desert within a few miles of my home. I nor anybody I have talked to or contacted have any idea what this plant is. I have not even a clue where to start. I would appreciate any help in identifying this strange little plant occurring among so many other recognizable desert plants. Here's a link to the photo in an album here at Fotki:

Thank you! Jim

Hi there

Just arrived in Rodos this evening and noticed that you are familiar with this island.

Do you have any recommendations for gardens to visit?

Have a great evening!

Paidia- what is this? http://public.fotki.com/LadySmiles/greece/athens-national-gardens/athensnationalgardens22.html

A visitor to my page had it on hers, taken at the Ethnikos Kypos. Is it native? Where is it from? Onoma?

We have this plant under the name Drimiopsis sp. nova Welkom , OFS , curly leaf.

I got the plant from David Cunningham, so I do not know...flowers will tell.

Maybe ours (yours plant & our) is the same like this one?

Hello Panos & Stavros,

If I am not mistaken you have been to Specks, at least: I see pics of Dorstenia's gotten from there. What did you think of it? I have been there yesterday, brought in a Dorstenia Benguellensis Radiant Flower, I did not have that one yet. It still has to come out of dormancy so making photo's is of no use yet, it is a caudex so looks just like the others. And I bought myself a Dendrosycios Socotrana, that took quite a bite out of my budget but it is worth it.

Regards,

Mireille

Greetings! My name is Joel Miller (Jomill on Fotki), and I am writing to some of the Fotki members in Greece for travel information regarding an October (2008) visit to Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos and the Peloponnese. About 7 days of our three week trip will be taken up by a tour of parts of the Peloponnese (that segment is pretty well "fixed". The rest of the trip willl be spent in Athens and the three Islands (still changeable).
We are experiencing some difficulty in planning our time (appropriate lengths of stays, points of interest on the Islands , inter-island transportation etc.). Not really looking for a relax-at-the-beach vacation... will there be enough to see and do with, for instance, 4 days at each stop?
I will , of course , look at your photos but I am sure that you have discovered some of the lesser known "corners" of these places.
So, if you have the time, please leave me a note in my Fotki guest-book and hopefully we can start a mutually beneficial dialogue.
My wife and I have planned and completed a number of European trips...some with tours some without tours... and have enjoyed them all. My interest in photography is strong, but walking the towns and cities , learning the cultures, and tasting the foods and wines are treasured activities.
Looking forward to a conversation.
