Paul, your photography stands out because it is composition based. It is based on putting a pretty young woman into a visually interesting (if not over-power) setting and letting her pose as though she was in her backyard. Almost every photo in your collection.. I look at them and think.. "that is almost exactly how I would have shot this."
If i see things correctly, you spend minimal time post processing (this could be your photography's strongest and weakest point.) For the most part, I find it excellent that your images can stand alone so well without tinkering.. but there has been a few that I have thought could be improved by something simple like reducing a shadow or knocking down a highlight.
Hey Paul, thanks for the comments. I have four Bees. 2x800 (green) and 2x400 (yellow) I have one boom arm. I am looking to maybe pick up the Ringflash this year. I still prefer outdoor natural light.. but I am starting to get more comfortable with the strobes.
Your work is sooo recognizeable to me when I see thumbnails on the front page! We have a very similar style and approach. We really need to get together and shoot sometime!
I can certainly see why you used up all your flash cards on Melissa Dawns photo shoot. A great album. thanks for sharing and keep up the good work. All the best for 2008
Hi Paul, Thanks for all the comments and constructive feedback. I still have heaps to learn, and directing models is one of them. Most of the models in my albums are beginners and so were somewhat nervous during the shoot, hence the same smile in a lot of shots. But yeah I gotta learn to get more expressions out of a model. The low levels you mentioned is actually my preference, I like the skin tones better that way. Thanks again for the feedback, and best wishes for 2008!
