Hi, Napp!!!  I'm considering going back to relaxers too!!!  I love my natural hair but it's taking over my life, LOL!!  I'm currently doing heat training but I think it's taken a toll on my ends!!!  I"m not retaining length the way I want to!!  Thanks for the inspiration!!!

I see that you said that you are working on thickness, how exactly do you make your hair thicker? I would love to have thick hair too.

i plan on making my hair thicker by doing the following:
1)reducing heat usage-this is to prevent unecessesary split ends and breakage from back to back heat usage
2)keeping hair stretched-to prevent single and multi strand knots from forming which can hinder retention
3)weekly deep conditioning with a ceramide containing conditioner- ceramides replenish the hairs integrity allowing for less protien loss
4)lubricating hair daily with a serum or cerimide containng oil-lubrication helps the hair retain elasticity and prevents tangling from occurring.
5)keeping hair and scalp clean-to promote healthy hair growth by keeping the scalp free of anything that can clog the pores and inhibit growth. plus clean hair shines with its health not products so its a good way to assess hair health.
6)dusting regularly to maintain neat ends and a thick hemline-to prevent split ends and tangling even ends are essential. uneven ends tend to curl and shrink at different rates which causes more tangling than evenly cut ends. it is also a personal preference to maintain a blunt hemline as i plan to wear my hair out often.
7)regular protein treatments-to increase the integrity of the hairs strength and elasticity.
8)tension free styling-in order to prevent breakage and stress to the scalp
9)Eating healthy-healthy hair starts from inside so its important to heat as healthy as possible and supplement with a multi vitamin if necessary.
      10) enjoying my hair every step of the way- not only can i enjoy my hair by wearing it out more i can constantly assess its heath and noticing areas that need to be fixed faster than if i wear to hide my hair way consistently. for example wearing a wet bun for months at a time and then straightening just to see that my ends are full of ssk and my edges are broken off.

    Hey Napp!

Thanks for stopping by my fotki. I tried entering your password to look through your album, but for some reason it didn't work. Anyways, I remember writing your name down a few weeks ago because I just starting keeping a list of members who I thought had a very similar texture to mine! I am ridiculously excited to become natural already.
I read your bio, and I hope you become more embracing of your natural hair, I think it's beautiful. Unlike you, I have been relaxed for a majority of my life and during a process of trying to find out who I really am, I decided to strip myself from everything artificial— including my chemically straight hair. I rather love and have other people love the person that I have been covering up for over a decade. Me at my rawest. Its actually been a very therapeutic experience. lol Anyways, I hope to see more pictures of that lovely hair of yours. Any advice on transitioning would be much appreciated too

i am sorry that you emotionally suffered with your hair, this is not the point. i believe that all of our goal is healthy hair. if you enjoy your hair with chemicals then it is not for anyone to judge you not even yourself, it is very distructif. if you later decide the chemicals is not for you, embrace it. most women who are sans chemical have a certain je ne sais quoi (a certain air of confidence) that comes out. i have seen all textures of hair and they are beautifully unique. but you really need the confidence to wear it proudly....do you understand?

i suppose if i could figurue out a way to wear it all the time that i always looked put together i might have that special air of confidence.my hair always throws off my look unless i spend alot of time getting it right. I still have no idea what to do with it after all these years. i havent bkt since then. my hair reverted and i dont plan on using it again.i was straightening every few weeks and that was the best but now that its hot straightening is a waste of time. i feel like giving up all together and wear a weave all the time.

I don't know what you see, but your hair is gorgeous. It reminds me of the texture. Just continue to bkt your hair... It will give you more manageability if that is what you are looking for.

Good Luck with your hair journey.
