aye, mike,it's aye rainin' here,i think it's been on a' nicht, and plenty o't. i hid a 'butchers' at yer photies, the mb 1418 wi' the roller fairly took me back.my 'learned colleague' in oz [denis] tells me there were several granite works aboot torry, and there were a lot o' shipments fae them.it's fairly kot's rig,the trailer wis cream in colour.they were a good peyin' load, and were dispatched a' ower the world [and many other places]
'poosie nancy'wis a character in een o' robbie burns' poems, nae that i'm well versed [pardon the pun] in him. be good.
Ye widna want that roller fa'in on yer fit, (or any other part for that matter!) it wid fair bring tears tae yer een! That's anither industry that's long gone, granite quarries of the North East, there wiz een here at Stirlin' Hill near Boddam, and anither een further along the road at Longhaven, both finished now as viable buisnesses, but there is still a small amount of activity going on at Stirling Hill, maybe for special orders, I'm not sure.
It probably just got too expensive to quarry, I suppose, and the demand for granite as a building material fell with the introduction of the concrete block, and the presinic block which was made here in Peterhead. A huge part of Peterhead was built from pink granite, there is some beautiful stonework around the town done by the old stone masons, old school craftsmen.

Spikin' aboot rain in yer last post, I mine a line fae 'Scotland the What?' I think (not sure, maybe not) it was the sketch fan Sandy Thomson phones the Queen, he says, "Aye, there's just been the one shower the day, it started at 7 o'clock this morning, and it's still gan on!"
Fa is Poosie Nancy, by the way? Mr Munkle - (15/09/08)

I've scanned a' the pages o' the 'book', so I'll maybe get a start on it next wik. I'll get it sent back tae ye next wik sometime. Behave yersel' or I'll get MB tae sort ye oot! (he,he!) Mr Munkle - (13/09/08)
Aye aye postie, ye did a grand job wi yer reflections on TTC. You brought back a lot of fond memories of that era. I mind on Parkmore Lime, did Bill Stewart nae work for them at one time?. Munros did a lot of the sugar as well, many a load of sugar loaded and unloaded at the garage, although forklift and pallets were becoming popular in the late sixties so nae so much manual handling.!!!!
