Hi Dean! I am an Ophtalmology student from norway.. I often read some of your messages here.. I think it's interresting... To answer your question.. If you wear glasses with a prescription that is too strong, you MAY (it's not always the case!!!! everyone is different!) cause stress to your eyes. the eyes respond to disiplin and by forcing them to "fight" the execcive power of your glasses, they may addapt themselves to "fit" the new power... in that case you will make your eyes weaker, and your RX will increase... I wouldn't recommand you to do that.. making your eyes more nearsighted might increase the risk for retinal detachement and other complications.. NOW i know that most of you in here have a very high degree of myopia, and I want to tell you that you must not panic when you read about higher risks of retinal diseases.. the risks are a little bit increased, but still, they occure rarely!! As long as you have your retinas checked once a year or so, you really don't have to worry.. :-)
feel free to ask if you have any further questions, I will try to do my best to answer! :) have a great day, everyone! :)

Micha. That's because Chris is my dad. My real name is Caroline
Hi Rick, No, I'm still on -16.00 & -17.50. My parents won't be a bit surprised if I reach -20.00 cos my mum is -22.75 & -23.50 and my younger sister is just over -12.00 now. Gems

Hi Gemma, are you close to -20 so. What would you parents say about that? and your friends? I never saw -20 glasses.
Thanks for the link to LensChat - I went on there this weekend. It was really cool - a lot of nice people. Looking forward to meeting both of you on there.
Do both of you wear thick glasses too?
Jessica

Hi Pablo, It's OK. I reckon I can cope till April cos I've done it before when my distance was bad. I'm really excited about it cos I reckon I'll easily need at least another -1.50. wow won't my glasses be thick then!
