I agree Gemma why not do what you feel is right. The thicker the better!

Hi Herman, Don't worry about my sight being ruined. Everyones says that at my age my eyes can cope with strong lenses. i need strong glasses anyway so i may as well have the strongest my eyes can tolerate. gemx

Everybody who wants to destroy his/her eyes should know better. You know what I mean. Good luck for all of you.

hanna, if your distance vision is much worse you must get new glasses or you may get into difficulty like kirsty is doing. My distance is quite good still but i've started wearing some old -14.00s of my mum's for 3 or 4 hours each day to increase my rx. My eyes are coping really well with them and they make things look really sharp and small which is what i like. simon thinks i'm silly but says if it make me feel nice its ok by him. do go for a check-up soon hanna. love gemmx

Hi Gem, my distance vision is still worse now. I have a similar progressive myopia like you and it´s time for me to get stronger glasses again. I think your next glasses with rx -14 or more should be also myodiscs. You can see with them better than with normal glasses and you will look much more pretty. Some of my friends told me they would prefer girls with myodiscs more than with thick glasses. Best regards - Hanna

Hi Gemma, I think you are a really great girl. You are obviously very short sighted so why not make the most of it by going for really strong minus glasses. I love them on pretty young girls and they are nothing to be shy about. Go for it Gemma, your eyes will take all you can give them at your age.

Hi Nicky, I'm glad you posted and are accepting wearing glasses full time. When you get your next stronger ones you will realise what a difference they make and will soon be wanting stronger ones still. That's what happens and like me you'll probably get hooked on enjoying the feeling of seeing things clearly. Its only natural to want to see well. my love gemxx

Hi Davina, Thanks a lot for boosting my confidence about wearing glasses full time. It comes as a bit of a shock when you suddenly realise you're going to be permanently bespectacled for the rest of your life, but I suppose I'll get used to it eventually. love nicky

Hi Gemma, seeing clearly makes sense. I can see that now. I have spent over 3 years with my distance vision gradually getting worse, so realise glasses are a must for me now. But I still wouldn't want to wear really thick ones like you do. love nicky.

Davina and Nichola, I know people think i'm stupid for wanting stronger glasses but i just need them so i can see really clearly. it make me feel so good when everything looks crisp and sharp. lots of people i've chatted to recently have convinced me my eyes can cope with it if i give them time to adjust. hope this helps to explain a bit. love gemx

Nichola, I just think that Gemma is obsessed with wearing stronger and stronger glasses. I tried to stop her but I think she's addicted. The only problem is she doesn't like myodiscs or contacts. So when she's completely ruined her eyesight she's going have to either wear the most ludricrously thick glasses or get myodiscs or contacts which she doesn't want. I think she's going to regret trying to make her vision worse when she's older and has (hopefully) got some more sense!
You shouldn't feel embarassed by your glasses - lots of people think they look great and they can really enhance your appearance. But of course if you don't like them you can always get contacts.

Gemma, It is so strange why you are always wanting to wear stronger glasses. I started with glasses 3 years ago and have just had to give in to wearing my third pair full time and I feel so embarrassed about it. Perhaps you can explain how you feel more fully sometime.

Hanna, I was chatting to Anders yesterday and he told me that my eyes ahould be able to cope with another -2.00 by November so i am really excited. i'll need to plan how to change the lenses in my glasses but it shouldn't be too much of a problem. post me soon, love gemxx

Hi Hanna, my close focus is really good today so i feel a lot better about adding -3.00 to my last prescription. my distance vision is still ok but i wish it was going again like yours. i chatted to socks yesterday in lenschat and he added -5.00 to his prescription and his eyes are coping with it really well. maybe you will be able to get in there sometime so we can talk. don't worry too much about your distance cos you can always get an increase in your myos. contacts are rubbish hanna, i don't like them. lots of love gemxx

Hi Bart, I found this site when I was searching in internet for "myodiscs".
Hi Gem, thank you for your posting. I hope that your close focus is now better than my distance focus which is not so good since some days. Two years ago I had also contacts because I didn´t want to wear myodiscs, but the pressure on my eyes was so painful that I must take off the contacts after short time. It was the first and only time in my life that I didn´t wear spectacles. So I must change to myodiscs, but now I like them. Sorry Gem, I cannot come to lenschat now because I am very busy. Best regards - Hanna

Hi Hanna, is is really good to get your post. My close focus isn't too bad today so hopefully i will be OK for school. I'm sorry to hear about your distance vision. I hate mine being blurred, that's why I like strong glasses. I don't have contacts cos i prefer wearing glasses. without my glasses everything is really blurred and it feels amazing when i put them on each morning before i get up. i keep them on all the time then until i go to bed again at night. I'm thinking of going for another check up in December so hopefully i will get things sorted better. love gemxx. do you have contacts as well as myos?
