This is absolutely the best website! I am from Minneapolis (born and raised) and currently live in Portland, Oregon. I moved here to escape a mentally and physically abusive marriage. After extensive searching, I found this site and I was OVERJOYED to say the least. I get very, VERY homesick and this site gives me my pick-me-up and a sense of home! Thank you so very much!!

Hello my name is Rebecca Lorenz and I was wondering if there would be any way I could use this image (#20) for a poster that I am doing for the national trust preservation week contest. I am a junior graphic design major at Drake University in Des Moines Iowa and I would really like to be able to use this image. Please contact me if that would be at all possiable.
We lived in Minneapolis for one year in 1996-1997. We lived in the Churchill Apartments in downtown Minneapolis and I worked at Norwest Bank. I could commute entirely via the skyway system. My co-workers were very jealous when they had to commute from the far-flung suburbs on a snowy day. It looks like the Churchill has been converted into extended-stay business suites. I am impressed by all the new building that has occured since I left. Minneapolis has one of the few downtowns in America that is not in decline. I would move back there in a hearbeat if circumstances permitted. We now live in a picturesque town on the banks of the Delaware River in New Jersy - Lambertville. A small town between two large cities (Philly & NYC), but I miss living in Minneapolis. You're photos brought back many memories and helped update me on a little of what has happened since we left.
Nice photos. I worked at the 1st National Bank back in 1971-1973, while attending Bethel College. What a nice walk down memory lane for me. Thanksamillion. Now I live in Washington, DC, and when I feel a little homesick for the Mid-west, I'll know where to go. Thanks again. -- Ench

Very nice photos! I believe the unidentified fireplace in your James Hill House album is in the family dining room. This is the room the family used for everyday eating. It's just to the left of the grand dining room. (I work at the James J Hill Ref. Library, and we toured the house earlier this year.) You have some wonderful pictures in your collection!

Great photos!!! I lived in the Stevens neighborhood for two years. Moved away this past May and looking at those pics make me homesick (except that it hasn't snowed yet down here).
