Dr Evil started out as a joke for the High Tech contest in January 2006. Since then, he has appeared in several other contests – some by my own hand, but lately Dr Evil has taken over and I can’t stop him.
Some people like Dr Evil, and some people don’t, but isn’t that always the way? Some people vote against him because they think these contests are anonymous. I don’t agree with that – there are many photos in the contests where we recognize a certain photographer’s work, either by style, description, or because we’ve seen the photo before. (Some people even cheat by having more than one account.) So in my opinion, anonymity is a fiction, except with regard to the voter.
I hope you like him, but even if you do not, please know that the intent behind him is entirely to have fun in the contests.
