Have you seen the next contest is "People and Emotions?" (Starts on Mon.) I don't think I'll be able to hold a candle to you in *this* one. I'll definitely be looking forward to your entry. I don't really have any (postable) people shots, but am seriously considering drawing faces on my little wooden Mr and Mrs Fotki. :)

Thank's Jon. Not sure what the problem was with the comment boxes! Oh well... I'm going for a walk today to shoot some more pics... I need to get off the couch as well!
For one of my Fotki friends, Lantia, I changed a monochrome (sepia) photo into a colored one, using the layer technique and the eraser brush of Paint Shop Pro.
Maybe you already know how to do this. But if you're interested, I could make an album containing a step by step instruction how I did it. I use Paint Shop Pro 7 for this, but newer versions or Photoshop wouldn't make much difference.
How far are you from Valparaiso? We might be moving there....what's it like?

I live about 2 hours SE of Valpo. Have never spent any time there other than to gas up the car so really couldn't tell you much about the place other than it is really one of the outer Chicago suburbs.
Ran a quick Google and got back tons of info about the town.
If you move there let me know and we can meet 1/2 way and have some coffee and swap lies about the great pics that got away :))
Thanks for the kind words. Guess I'm gonna have to get off the couch and start hunting and shooting again. :))

Hello Jon, you have some great skills at taking portraits. You really bring out the best in people. Thanks for the vote in pets.

Howdie!!
Thanks for the very kind comment about the portraits I've done. Have kinda gotten away from them. But, enough people have commented about them lately I think it's time to take the cam and go hunting!!
Thanks for your generous vote and nice comment! Wattching your latest (as always: excellent) photos I noticed you upgraded from a Digital Rebel to an EOS 20D. I use a HP Photosmart 850 now, which I bought 2.5 years ago, then an excellent buy: 4 megapixels and 8 * zoom. I consider buying a new one: A Digital Rebel isn't that expensive, an EOS 20D is the market leader within it's price range. Can you tell me why you upgraded? Thanks in advance!
Cheers, John

Hi John!
Wellll, the short answer is that it gives you more control of the pic coming from the cam. Factors I really love: Burst mode (8 fps) and the DIGIC II chip. Colors are more lifelike.
