Thanks for your nice message on my hawk photo. You know I always have a hard time figuring out what is the best photo for those contests. Anyway, I got really lucky with that hawk. He was lit very well and out in the open perched on a log close to the ground checking out a stream near by. It's rare to see hawks up close--I always see them soaring but that's about it.
