Hi Gary, Just viewed to epic journey to Vietnam, another great record of your holiday. They say that necessity is the mother of invention, well the people on the streets are certainly inventive when getting themselves and their goods from place to place. I couln't believe the fantastic ways they adapted their bikes and motorbikes to transport their goods around, and the amount they carry is unbelievable.

I am writing from a back street I found (which is easy) in Hanoi,,, and the train runs right thru the alley way between the shacks... the pc I am on (a little row house with kids galore and internet service) is about 10 feet from the tracks... babies running all around... wish I could show you a pic right this moment of it... really amazing... the people are so nice,,, I love it here... no hagglers like in South America, at least none yet... just a few selling things but easy to get rid of... except I always give in...
Just bought some books from a guy on a bicycle.. 3 bucks and he asked for a Happy New Year little extra... of course he got that too,,, 2 bucks more... I think it's big money for them... We took photos of each other and had a blast... I could live to wander and take photos... discovering new tricks all the time... like standing by a traffic light,,, and when the zillions of motor bikes come to a screeching halt I throw up a peace sign,,, and they all do the same,,, following this crazy American guy... I aim my G9 at the bike with the most people on it including 1 or 2 kids or babies and shoot... Oh my God, U can't believe the photos!!!
They just brought me tea!!! It is .30 cents per hour for the internet!!! I gave the family 1 dollar for 10 or 15 minutes and they are treating me like a king... Twice they tried to give me change... 15.500 dong to 1 USD... I kept giving it back and finally told them to get something for the baby and finally they accepted!!! I gotta go... photo ops are waiting!!!
Gary - great shots of the streets of Hanoi! Looks like it's as cold there is at is in Cape May County. Stay safe. Will keep checking in until we see you athe gym.
Gary just remember - they are going to think you are one of those "rich" Americans....be extra cautious....they will follow you until you give more... Stay safe....

HEADLINES: LesTension LIVES ON!
After a LOOOOOOOONG day at Parent/Teacher Conferences yesterday, I arrived home to find an email from the group challenging my use of "their" name. It seems as though they have had a change of heart and "...as long as it's all in fun..." they will have no problem with my using the name LesTension.
HOORAY! THE FRACAS IS OVER! NO WORRIES!
Thanks again for all your suggestions. I gave serious thought and consideration to all of them but none were as satisfying to my image as the original LesTension. And I gleaned from your comments that many of you though the same thing.
So.....THREE CHEERS for the band known as Les Tension. I knew they were good people at heart.

To all my Fotki friends. First of all, let me thank all of you for your support and your many suggestions for a "new me." I truly appreciate all your efforts.......Fotki is, indeed, a family one can count on in times of need.
I have been working, diligently, to re-invent myself. I have spent many hours thinking and rethinking and Googling for information. I have narrowed my choices to three and, if you are moved to so, I would appreciate on more vote. Among these three, which do you think is best?
1- Phoenix Rising (appropriate, eh?) Phoenix Photos? 2- Hokes Photos (after-all, the whole thing is a hoax). ROFL 3- Sigmund Frawd (this whole experience boarders on fraudulence, right?) I kinda like this one!
