I was never in Guam, and never an RM; I was an AT in the late 80's - early 90's stationed at NAS Whidbey (Washington State) where I worked on the EA-6B Prowler.  I was very active in MARS at NAVMARSTA Whidbey, and while afloat on the USS Enterprise / USS Lincoln.  I may have passed MARS traffic through Guam at one time or another.  Absolutely loved the pics of the COMMSTA, and the TTY equipment, HF antennas, etc.  Really makes me with I had taken more photos during my time on active duty.  Thanks for posting them for us all to see!

only Navy HF link to NPN. Was nice working with that group.

Glad people are enjoying a glimpse into the past!  I had a great time going through the old pictures and scanning them in.  A lot has changed here in Guam since those days!!

Served two tours at Barrigada.  First tour was from 1959 thru 1961.  Reported as RM2 and left as RM1.  Was watch supervisor at Building 51 and lived in the housing on the base. Second tour was 1965 thru 1969.  Reported as RMC and left as RMCS.   Was Ops Chief relieving RMCM Keith McClung.   Lived at NAS that tour fortunately right across the street from the Chief's Club.  Have many fond memories of Guam.

What a great collection. I was stationed at Radio Barigada from Sept 47 until May 49 and have good memories of the station and personnel. I wonder what happened to the orchard that was adjacent to sickbay?
