Too much work, not enough people, seems equipment is falling apart, new building plan was nicked by NY, not playing with photography and PS much these days but plan to pick that up.
I REALLY want the 5D Mk III!!!! but that sucka is expensive! I hope to be on fotki a bit more before the election cycle spins up.
Glad to see you made your trip back home safe and sound. Looking forward to some excellent Tennessee scenery!

I just find it easier to lie and say I have no nudes and allow private access to the few of my closest buds. Or just make an album with a pw and ignore those who just want to gwak.
Emailed complaint to the Fotki government lies below. I was trying to sound politer than I feel. Think this will be effective? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello~
Please see the attached screen shot; I am certainly not the only person writing about this change!
I applaud your apparent desire to shield those who do not wish to be exposed to imagery which they may find offensive. However, the method used in this case is bound to upset far more people than it will please. There are numerous Fotkins who do not post "nude or suggestive imagery" in their own accounts yet appreciate the opportunity to view or critique such images on other Fotki accounts. Likewise, those who include nudity in their albums often visit friends' sites which do not include any such imagery. That has been the great appeal of Fotki for years: endless opportunities for photographers and viewers to display and view different kinds of imagery in a relatively unfettered way.
The logic of forcing everybody to maintain similar content settings in order to continue dialogue with fellow members eludes me. At best, users will simply lie about the contents of their accounts to bypass this new requirement. At worst, perfectly decent Fotkins--artists who include nudity in their repertoires and are NOT pornographers--will close their accounts in frustration and go elsewhere. How can this approach possibly be expected to do any good?
Even worse, this change was made with NO advance notice to those who use Fotki!
Eliminating "nudity or suggestive images" from Fotki entirely is, of course, the prerogative of those who own and operate the service. I, for one, would be quite disappointed if this occurred. Over the years I have discovered a great deal of fascinating artistry, gained much technical knowledge, and even made quite a few terrific friends who share the same photographic interests.
"Nudity or suggestive imagery" does not necessarily equal obscenity or pornography. Admittedly, it is difficult to define the differences between "artistic nudes" and "pornography," because each person's perception is different from the next person's. Certainly I have dealt with the occasional offensive Fotkin, and even reported a few; but ONLY when these individuals purposely embarrassed me or my model on my own site. The funny thing about these rare instances is that NOT ONE OF THEM INVOLVED NUDE IMAGES! If there is anything in my albums which involves nudity or suggestive imagery, it is locked away for a very limited and controlled audience.
I have no desire whatsoever to share ANY of my photographs, whether they are nudes or pictures of picket fences or flowers, with persons who find my artistic efforts offensive. Since I first joined Fotki, I have never needed an account setting to maintain that policy, and I do not see a need for such a setting now. I politely implore you to reconsider this change to your policy or programming.
You may also want to add your thoughts to this forum.. apparently, according to Fotki, this new approach has caused very few people to be upset - make your voice known or go down with the porn purveyors. ****According to Fotki "very few people are unhappy about the change" and we are part of a very small minority. Let's try to let our voices be heard.
I started a new topic in the forums. Maybe if we gather enough members there this would make an impact ...
Ugh! I finally have time to wander to our friends' pages and leave comments and I get the "access denied" message below. So before the missus or I can visit many of our Fotki friends' sites, either:
A) I must lie and say I only take pictures of puppies and flowers; or B) I have to actually only take pictures of puppies and flowers; or C) I must fail to return the favor and comment on several long overdue albums belonging to friends; or D) everybody has to change their account settings to proclaim they own "nude or suggestive" images...
Glad you arrived 'home' safely. Down Under (in Adelaide anyway) we are enjoying what might be the last nice days before winter. Currently 29C and similar for the rest of the week. Soon this fine weather will transfer to your side of the world, but that is a good thing too as you can get out into the wilderness and find your next photo location :)
very sorry but I am still very busy all the time, but I will not forget to wish you both a very nice and joy-filled Easter weekend. Looking forward to have a look at your new pictures next week.
Thanks, all! You'll be happy to know that Fotki's formatting issue has been resolved, so the albums are back up. Might even sneak another album or two in before the computer is boxed up :o)
This is sort of our "Out of Order" sign. For some reason, Fotki is not showing up properly on my system (formatting is AWOL, missing radio buttons, you name it). Until the issue is resolved, it seemed prudent to shut down most of the albums. Also, we've got a very large move coming up and our attention ought to be directed elsewhere for a while. Lastly, this is probably the best way to see who is still interested in our doings Fotki-wise.
No worries! We are not closing up shop! There are plenty more albums in the wings and we've got all sorts of other stuff and places to photograph.
Please wish us luck over the next couple weeks, drop us a note when you can and keep in touch. As soon as possible, I'll have everything back up and running.
