The light fixture and bulb thing..........You are a genius, a master. Words just seem so, I don't know, inadequate. I turned a 1/24th baseball bat using a Dremal and an emory board, for the back seat of that Camaro, and was thrilled, but a light bulb! Pretty cool.
Chuck, very nice weathering and model work. i like the red oak garage!!...as im a gas station nut? have a bunch of orig material and photo's on service stations, and your right on the money with your details. Im doing a service station in 1/25 scale in the flying red horse, that i started Years Ago. i get inspiration looking at your work....hope it will drive me back to the work bench again. as i been away from modeling WAY TO LONG....Craig mich.
Mr. Doan, You do incredible work. You are an artist! I enjoy studying what you have shown on the web and in magazines. I really like the Groveland Garage. I too like old Coke signs and use many of them in my modeling. But the 7Up version of the garage sign was outstanding. I can't wait to try the curved 7Up signs myself. Are you going to do a book on modeling as mentioned in another message? If so, please let me know how I can purchase a copy for my library. Enjoying your work, John Clark
Your work is truly amazing. I plan to spend a lot of time on your site. There is so much to learn. I'm trying to add more realism to my mini projects and your techniques will go a long way in helping me to achieve that.
Mr. Doan your hands, eyes and mind have the touch of God. No other way that I can describe what I saw in you albums.
As many other miniature makers, I tend to make the items to look like new. Your observation of reality and being able to put in a miniature is truly incredible.
I am an accomplished, professional artist. When I saw Vermeer's "View of Delft" in The Hague, it opened up a new frontier of what's possible for a landscape painter like me. I thought Van Ruysdael and Bierdstat and guys like that were the great artists....then I saw "View of Delft."
I am a model railroader, also. When I accidentally came across your modelling while searching for steam locomotive engine houses for ideas for modelling my own engine house, your skill and execution laid open an extraordinary new frontier of what might be possible for a modeler. Before I saw your work here, I thought John Allen and George Sellios were the great modellers. Your work changes my idea of what great modelling is.
Chuck I come back to your site for inspiration from time to time. I build trucks and tractors from cedar, nothing like the detail you have but I am getting better. Your site challanges me. Thanks for sharing it with us. Doug
I wanted to thank you for dropping in on my album and taking a look. I hope it is an inspiration to you, although I can't believe you need any. Your works are magnificent and I for one enjoy with al my heart, looking at them and admiring them. I really hope you're enjoying the Panzer IV thread at Mig forum. I'm posting as much as I can until the project is done.
Hi Chuck. Been meaning to drop a line in admiration of your superb modelling and artwork. I had seen much of your work through the published pages of NG&SLG, NGD and FSM etc. You've got true talent and a great eye for the smallest things. Do keep it up and looking forward to seeing more of your work in future. Kind regards from 'dowunder'.... Bob Reid.
Thank you, Chuck, for the gift of your art, your photography, and your modeling. Thanks for the many hours and years you spent to attain this level of skill. I'll be back many times for the eye candy. Thank you, too, for making the high res pix available. What a treat!
